I’m not really seeing any eggs out of my pure Marans lines but they were all solid, and I do have a fondness for them as it was also my first ever egg from my own girls. Laid by Mrs Marans in March of 2018… I do really like the specking and it seems to be more peel even in the third generation with Marans crosses. Chickie Hawk, although he looks completely like a Wheaton Ameraucana… if his ladies don’t pluck them for him, has feathered feet, from a Marans parent.
That is interesting. I only have 1st generation crosses at the moment. Their father was a pure Marans. Of the different mothers only Butter laid a lightly speckled egg. Every single one of them are laying speckled eggs. Some more so then others, but I've yet to get a solid egg from any of them.

:lau I read this quick and thought you said 'love the peonies', and I was like "What really, I missed a bunch of posts again":rant...then I realized it was my bad eyesight & my brain filling in what it wanted....:th

I love that we are willing to share our foolish misreadings! 😆

Thanks for this suggestion, Bob. I decided to re-examine Millie and either I was mistaken about the swelling or it has come on quick. I actually think she was swollen, it went away, and then returned. Maybe related to me not being home to help her off the roost two mornings this week? Unfortunately, her belly is pretty large, which explains the labored breathing. Yesterday they got aloe detox, and I’ll offer it again later today and/or tomorrow. This morning I gave her s full 81mg aspirin, for inflammation and ascites, since she’s a big girl. She eats lots, so I don’t think it will upset her tummy too much. Having been down this road a couple times already, I’m kind of bummed for her. And for me. 🙁
Gosh this sounds like what I am dealing with. I hope the aspirin and detox help. :hugs :hugs

Sometimes I wonder! 😆
Try dyeing the white egg...? I may have to see how well that works. I'm already down a fake egg. I'm the only one who has collected eggs since the fakes were added. (Jess is running with the flock, btw) Both fakes were there last night, 1 not there this morning. No, I didn't bring it up to the house with the rest of the eggs last night (I checked). I think they hid it on me.

They surely can bury them and roll them around.
