I don't know why I'm so hopeful but I am.I would say it's an egg from a different hen.

The good news is that it looks like Betty found a way to lay in nest box #1. The prime spot.I think my youngster will lay in the next few days, she is sqwaking like she wants to lay....hope it's today or tomorrow when I am home to make sure she knows to lay in the nest box. I worry the older hens will prevent her from laying there.
I did sleep well last night, thanks for asking. Lilly had enough gumption to get up in the Cluckle Hut this morning, so that seems positive. I am shooting to have a few hours of free range this afternoon. I'll be interested to see how she does then.Hopefully you had a good night last night also. How is Lilly today?
They are beautiful eggs all. But the speckled ones are maybe a tiny bit more cool.Which color do you prefer out of your Marans, the solid dark egg or the speckled egg? I've noticed with mine I really have 2 different lines going on here. Holly and Bunny who have the feathered feet produce solid darker eggs. The clean leg line, Daisy when she lays, Corona, Baby, and when she was alive their mother Clover produce heavily speckled eggs. Personally for me while I love them both, I like the speckled ones just a tiny bit better. Each one is so different.
Love the ponies!
That sounds promising! And glad you had some sleep. I guess Labs will be in tomorrow?I did sleep well last night, thanks for asking. Only a day and a half to go until she gets friends! What a blessing you have there.Ezzie is doing wonderful so far. I've got the temperature adjusted just right finally. Every 3 hours I'm getting her out to encourage her to eat and drink. She is drinking good but has not been that interested in eating. I'm not too concerned though as she is only just now 48 hours old and with the fully absorbed yolk sac she does not need to eat right away. Throughout the day today I expect to see her start eating well I hope. I have had chicks before who have taken almost 3 days to get them eating and drinking good even with many siblings. I knew it would happen, but she still gave me a heart attack yesterday evening when I peeked in and she was passed out sleeping. Contented sleeping chicks look like dead chicks when they are sprawled out. Rosie already wants to put her up on the bed with her but not happening yet. She is so brave and bold that she is trying to jump up and off my lap that I know she'll get away and jump off the bed. I was afraid being by herself she would cry nonstop, but she is very quiet. She only cries for 2 minutes when I put her back in the brooder and the rest of the time it is those soft happy chick sounds.
Labs are done. I should hear from the vet tomorrow. That sounds promising! And glad you had some sleep. I guess Labs will be in tomorrow?
