It had been 3 days since I had to clean butt fluff. I thought I was done, but nope overnight 4 of them proved me wrong. This first set of pictures is when I first got them out of the brooder and for the most part they liked me. Some were suspicious though and still gave me dirty looks.

Afterwards, not happy with me at all, except Ezzie who has not needed her fluff cleaned in over a week.

They are just so adorable! 😍

Wow, look at all those little wing feathers🪶🪶! ❤️ Gorgeous! They must be starting to test them out...hope you have a cover for your brooder!
Yes the brooder has a cover. Until last night when I would refill the feeder and water or clean it I would leave the cover off if I walked away. Well last night one of the orps attempted the first jail break. She flew up and perched on the edge of the brooder and was waiting on me when I came back with clean water. No more leaving the cover off if I'm not right there anymore.

Ezzie is definitely popping partridge colors. How dark will be interesting to see. Your "Grannies" have wing color like my RIR did early on. sounds like they're getting the explore the area bug. Fun times!

I figure with little Ezzie I will have a idea of what she will end up looking like around 5ish months old when she is done with one of the last of her juvenile molts. I would not mind if she ended up looking like her momma, but some of the other variations of partridge silkies are very pretty. To be honest, as long as she is healthy and is in fact a girl I would not complain if she ended up pink. I also think I will have to go with a few juvenile molts on the "Grannies" before I get a idea of what they really are as well. Now that they and the Nellies are 2 weeks old today I am starting to scrutinize combs, so far so good.

I leave it alone. It comes and goes. I think it is like dry skin. They don't like me messing with their combs. Daisy, the greatest hen ever, especially did not like having this beauty of a comb messed with so I learned to respect her wishes.
