Happy Thursday Everyone!

I'm slowly getting back into the thread... so the biggest news is that, we added two more feather friends into the "flock".

By feather friends, I mean cockatiels. In February, we adopted Buffy (female gray cockatiel). Then a week later, we decided to adopt Ozzy (male white-faced cockatiel), who was her cagemate prior to us adopting her. I was happy to be able to reunite them and I knew instantly that I made the right decision in keeping them together ❤️

This photo sums up how Kiko feels about the new "flock members" in the family 🤣 She seems very unbothered by them and doesn't really pay much attention to them.

Gizmo on the other hand, is very entranced by them! He spends lots of time just watching them. Buffy seems very interested in him too!

Aside from the new additions, Kiko & Gizmo are doing well ❤️

Now that the "chipmunks" are 3 week old I am officially going to call them Easter Eggers. They are big enough now that I can clearly see they do not have a single comb. It is still non-existent, but it is very obvious that they will one day have a pea comb. I am very happy that due to the mix-up I do not have a production breed. The only draw back to this, if you want to call it a draw-back is now I have to play the "are you a boy or girl game". I also have to get enough courage to tell mom that they are not really the Cinnamon Queens she wanted. As long as they are girls, and end up some sort of red/brown color I have until they lay that first egg. I could get really lucky, and they lay some shade of brown or tan egg and she will never have to know.
What is this dislike of EEs with single combs?

EEs can have single combs.

:frow Thanks. Yeah, fairly new, only been on the site about a week, this was the first thread I joined I think. I haven't been on for a day or two though as been really busy.

Edit: Had to look as I was curious, I signed up on March 3rd 😂. Feels like I've been checking these posts for ages though! I think sometimes my posts get pushed back because of time difference though because I'm in England.
We are very happy to have you with us. The thread moves fast some days. There are a lot of us here and we all like to chat.

There is no dislike for the single comb. I just now know that with the pea comb my 3 have they cannot be Cinnamon Queens or Rhode Island reds. The only other option they had when I picked mine up were Americaunas and EEs, which is the same thing. I really do not think mom will be too upset when I tell her about the mix-up. She is already attached to them. I just need them to be a rich red or brown as adults. She had her heart set on that color.

Perfect help! I see in the first photo, the clerk of the works is holding a truss down so it doesn't blow away on you....in the second they are inspecting to make sure the trailer is hooked up properly & safely (while one intelligent worker is making sure the trailer is sturdy & stable)...and in the 3rd photo they are making sure your 'altered' trusses are still functional Meanwhile, Miss Intelligent One keeps saying "Hey, need help up here...come lay down with me ...I need to make sure it will support the load....come-on guys...help me out. I don't weigh enough alone for proper testing. This is getting old, laying around waiting on you all" (said no sunning hen, EVER!)

I would have gotten a few shots before I unloaded the first batch… little fluff balls are all hiding from the rain today. As am I, DH, and the Goatlings… but all the shortened stacked trusses make the best ever roosts for the daytime don’t ya know? They will even hop from the one they are sitting on to the one I’m attempting to load without squashing their little toes!

Welcome… and yes keeping up here is a little challenging, but everyone is quite kind, and understanding when you miss a few days, or months. A few brave souls even try to keep up and catch up from the beginning! Lol I would be totally overwhelmed if I tried that…
You're not the only one in England on this thread. This one spans the world: US, Canada, Europe, Australia, ....several for whom English is a 2nd language....
I love the multi cultural thing we have going on here, it’s always so interesting to see the differences in chikenfolks in different places, and I have learned so much… especially from @Shadrach who was in the most similar to me situation…
Haha yep I usually check in at night (or is 2am morning?) so never sure if I should saying good morning or good night!
The nice thing about that, and all the Aussies here is that when I finally finish up my evening chores and get online again… there’s sometimes even people still awake on here! 😂 I’m on the west coast of Canada, so I wake up to a bunch of Eastern morning chat, and many people are already asleep by the time I pop back in in the evening! I try to pop in about three times a day, but sometimes life gets in the way of chicken gossip!
