There is no dislike for the single comb. I just now know that with the pea comb my 3 have they cannot be Cinnamon Queens or Rhode Island reds. The only other option they had when I picked mine up were Americaunas and EEs, which is the same thing. I really do not think mom will be too upset when I tell her about the mix-up. She is already attached to them. I just need them to be a rich red or brown as adults. She had her heart set on that color.

You don't like light colored chickens! Let me make certain I have this right. Single combed light colored hens are not preferred.

Welcome… and yes keeping up here is a little challenging, but everyone is quite kind, and understanding when you miss a few days, or months. A few brave souls even try to keep up and catch up from the beginning! Lol I would be totally overwhelmed if I tried that…

I love the multi cultural thing we have going on here, it’s always so interesting to see the differences in chikenfolks in different places, and I have learned so much… especially from @Shadrach who was in the most similar to me situation…

The nice thing about that, and all the Aussies here is that when I finally finish up my evening chores and get online again… there’s sometimes even people still awake on here! I’m on the west coast of Canada, so I wake up to a bunch of Eastern morning chat, and many people are already asleep by the time I pop back in in the evening! I try to pop in about three times a day, but sometimes life gets in the way of chicken gossip!

My thirsty Thursday contribution… saved from a few days ago as even the chicks thought it was too wet out here today! An excellent puddle vintage, hopefully it remains popular tomorrow as well. So many clean waterers… yet this is the most popular source.

This is so sweet…. Every time I think about how much I appreciate my relationships with my boys I think of you… then you post something like this and I am just even more amazed. He’s literally snuggled and sleeping on your chest! Sammy might perch on my arm and sleep, but the level of trust and love you have with Jaffar… I think you’re both quite special (in a good way!)

@micstrachan : Thanks for alerting me. I just click on an alert in my email and it brings me right here....so I never see those unless someone mentions it!
(I envy those who have enough time to read and keep up with half a dozen threads or so. I really want to be on @Shadrach s thread to read about his new 'tribe' of rescues, but I haven't even caught up here yet!)

Happy Thursday Everyone!

I'm slowly getting back into the thread... so the biggest news is that, we added two more feather friends into the "flock".

By feather friends, I mean cockatiels. In February, we adopted Buffy (female gray cockatiel). Then a week later, we decided to adopt Ozzy (male white-faced cockatiel), who was her cagemate prior to us adopting her. I was happy to be able to reunite them and I knew instantly that I made the right decision in keeping them together

This photo sums up how Kiko feels about the new "flock members" in the family She seems very unbothered by them and doesn't really pay much attention to them.

Gizmo on the other hand, is very entranced by them! He spends lots of time just watching them. Buffy seems very interested in him too!

OMG, that first face shot of Kiko is SPECTACULAR! And love the cockatiels! We had one named “Boss” when I was a teenager. We thought Boss was a “he” until “she” laid an egg!

Boss used to climb up the couch, perch herself onto your hand, and stick her little head into the curve between your thumb and index finger (kind of how Sunshine likes to stick her head into my armpit). She was a very social and affectionate little bird!

EEs can have single combs.

I keep forgetting Aurora has a single comb! So does Roxy. Only 25% of SLW have them.
