I hope so too. I’m having a poor chicken day all around today. Bobo bit me, Rocks-Anne is being distant, the rest are begging for meally worms, which I don’t have at the moment. And one egg out of nine laying hens.

Yep mother nature is having a bad hair week!

I just told someone at the store that Mother Nature was having a "bad air" day. It was 18 this morning, and will be about as cold again overnight tonight.

You can get ones that are higher watts and therefore warmer, but you cannot use them with plastic. I have one of those 5gallon plastic buckets with horizontal nipples and you can just stand the bucket on this.
I usually plug it into a thermo-cube that turns it on at 35 degrees so it isn't on all the time but only when needed.

And in breaking news, I have pulled the heated base out of storage and admitted that carrying out water every 2 hours is really about as much fun as it sounds!

Moved babies into grow out pen in coop, runs the length of the nest boxes (under them) so solid roof. As a result, watch the temp plummet even though forecast for the next 10 days is pretty good. Pics when adults head in tonight...if battery holds. The littles were definitely enjoying the long space: jump flutters all over.
