That seems to be going around, me too. DH got in really late last night and I tripped putting out the feed falling face forward around 11ish. All day today my back was twingie so I just puttered about putting the groceries away and did some light work in my free camper project. It’s starting to come along nicely… yep all I was good for was gluing styrofoam panels up today… 😂
My sore back, was caused by me picking up two bags of grain from the mill. And another 50lb bag of feed for the chickens. I wasn’t careful enough, so the pain is my fault. :(

It is very normal for chicks to chow down throughout the night....think of human babies that start out feeding/nursing every 2 hours...then go to feeding/nursing roughly every 4 hours...then gradually go about 6 hours overnight...etc. 🐤🐣🐥
Oh good point. Should I leave them a nightlight? Mainly they find their way in the dark, the issue this time was the other two had sort of blocked all the openings that were nearest the heat cave so she couldn't see how to maneuver her way to the food.
She is bigger than them so I am surprised she didn't just shove them out of the way.
🤔

Can you adjust the orientation of the food dish...in the picture it looks sort of oval (not sure, only a partial shot of dish)? If so, putting the longer edge facing the heat cave might help?? Just a thought.:idunno

I'm trying so hard to find a post you made around 2 weeks ago. I loved this and can't find it anywhere in my pictures or my phone book :(
Now it’s bugging me, that you can’t find what you are looking for. Is it a picture? Is it a statement? I’m going to be thinking about this all day now :barnie

Tumeric and ginger my friend. Eat it or make a tea then try to lay face down for a while and when you lay on your back support your legs too take the pressure off your back :hugs

Goats too! Arduinna would wake me two or three times every night to feed. I miss having her sleep in the bedroom, but I don’t miss the chaos and mayhem of her trying to eat everything in the trailer when she was almost 1 (and I mean everything, edible or not, down to the vinyl wallpaper… she had a glue problem 😆)

If it’s super dark you could leave a low light in for them, it might help… I agree on maybe trying to reorient the dish.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to get papers for my emotional support goats. Arduinna would make a good service animal, you would be surprised at how many people didn’t even realize she wasn’t a dog until we would get up to potty from the local pub’s patio, and yes she Never once had an accident there! Jimmy is a bit more
Of a handful, I’m not sure that would go over as well. Heck I can’t even train him not to pee in the barn… boys 🙄. I’ve never considered trying that angle for the chickens too, how many emotional support animals can a person have? Is there a limit? Should I start taking Sammy with me to the pub and store too? Or should I try to train him to ride Jimmy? My uncle sent me a horse riding goat link the other day… lol
