I think I’m going to have to have Chickie put down. :hit She looks really miserable this morning and while she ate some cheese, she left most of her pork mince. She’ll preen every so often but either stands around doing nothing or sits in the garden and has a snooze. I don’t think she’s getting any better. :hit
I'm so sorry to hear this! :hugs

Maybe try what @Shadrach suggested; confining her in a pet carrier with some straw/wood shavings in a darkened room for a day or two. I am anxious for her to get better! :fl
I've had poor luck with reintegrations so what I did was partion off a corner of the run to confine my limper till she got better. It was big enough (guessing 24"x36") so she could turn around and take a few steps but small enough to keep her from agravating the injury. Also I put a lid on it so she couldn't jump. That way she was still "Part of the Flock" and while she did go to the bottom of the pecking order they didn't try to kill her when reintegrated. The carrier is a good idea but I would at least leave her with the flock. I also gave limpy her own feeder and waterer and had to collect eggs .

I'm so sorry. That it's so hard. :hugs:hugs

It has been a week. I don't have a lot of tolerance of aggressive pecking and one hen jumping on another, but the "get out of my space" peck doesn't bother me. That is chicken language for, "get out of my space". And that's all I have going on.

For some reason, I have been "blessed" with some aggressive hens and roosters over my short 4 year experience as a chicken tender. My first flock had a lot of aggressive problems, particular Lucy and Verne, the cockerel, who ran rough shod over everyone. When Ethel ended up in sick bay with her head completely scalped, Verne lost his life. Although that settled down the flock, and he did seem hen aggressive to me, several on here have said that would have been against the nature of a cockerel or rooster. They instinctively protect their girls, not harm them.

I'll never know. I saw him go after Ethel and Shirl, very aggressively, but never Lucy, Rosie or Little Red Haired Girl. In fact, Shirl was afraid of him and wouldn't come out of her coop. Every time she tried, he went after her and she ran back in.

It wasn't until after he was gone that I saw extreme aggression from Rosie and Red, but they never actually hurt anyone. They just got crazy for a while. And then Lucy took the lead, and all was peaceful again. That time I would say it took about a month to sort itself out.

Well, that was a long answer. I just wanted to say every situation is different, and I've gone through the leadership shuffle 4 or 5 times now. As long as there is no blood, I let them sort themselves out. I still have a lot of guilt over Verne. 😢
What is it Dumbledore said?

It can be very hard @ValerieJ :hugs

On a sad note. Now Queen Bee is in sick bay. Similar symptoms to Queen Victoria, only she didn't develop them until after the Corid treatment that I just finished on Monday. So I'm not sure what to do with her. Since antibiotics and baby aspirin helped Queen V, I'm giving it a try. There are no open vets right now, especially for a chicken. Oh yeah, and we have no chicken vets here. :rant Open to any and all suggestions. She is not eating much, but she is eating. Very lethargic and panting. No respiratory rattles, no runny nose. I'll probably start another thread in ER. Going back out now.

Had to take a break because I'm sick right now too! :rant It's a perfect storm around here. :(

We are having a rough time lately on these threads. All the hugs to you Lozzy and Valerie. If they don't make it at least you know that they had good quality of life with you.
