Don’t say that too loud. She will start demanding that Bob carry her around!
Bob would love it. While as a breed I prefer the more svelt, you certainly know you've got a big cuddly hen when you pick Fat Bird up. I look forward to it now.:)
I'm amazed that she doesn't feel fat, just large.

I think I might like that.

I really try not to touch them without permission. They are all different. They run the gamut. Aurora hates being touched in any way to Hattie being fine with it most any time and Phyllis being just fine with even being picked up. Lilly is in the "that's Ok I'd rather you didn't" category.

Hattie is like that. When I do pick her up she is as solid as her feathers. No fluff there even though she looks fluffy. Just a large strong solid hen.

I feel mine should be used to being handled in case I need to take them to the vet or sort out an injury. And I’m still hoping for cuddly chooks! :fl

Dear friends, I’m very sad to have to tell you I had Chickie euthanised this morning. Sunday to Tuesday she seemed to be having really good days but this morning, she was lethargic, reluctant to leave the run and would stand hunched with her eyes closed. I decided that this was not the behaviour of a chicken that is healthy and I didn’t think she was going to get any better. So I made the (very) hard decision and called the vet. Dr Nikki isn’t working today so Dr Kevin did the deed. I decided I would bring her back home and bury her next to Emily and we had a good cuddle first. I followed Shad’s example and buried her with a bit of cheese so she could pay the ferryman.

When it gets less crazy, I might buy a couple of shrubs to plant over Emily and Chickie, for now they have rocks so I know where they are. If it’s ok with Bob, I will post some of my favourite photos of her as a tribute.

So Sorry Lozzy :hugs

Could you tell the story of how Chickie came to live with you please? I never realized how much she was debeaked poor darling. 😟:hugs:hugs
