Holy Dinah, I am not getting anything done, so far all day have done is clean stall. Still have water to do, and mow the grass, throw down hay, need to spray my paddocks weeds, get the other window removed from the hen house, fix some fencing Reenie damaged....

And it's lunchtime already !!!!

Chickens and horses are time thieves ☺️ all I have done is play with the chickens brush horses chase chickens, play with horses, chase chickens again.....
Yes they are time thieves. But at the end of a hard day of chicken and horse chores even if you cannot see that you got anything done you know it was well spent. I must confess I would rather be outside doing hard manual labor with them in the hot sun, then inside house cleaning. I could get chores done a lot faster then I do. But who is going to spend ages scratching Dirt's itchy spot that ends up being a full body massage? Letting Russ turn me into a human lollipop with his licking habit. Louis always needs his ears rubbed or scratched. And the chickens? They demand coffee breaks every hour so they can hop up onto my lap or gather around my feet to say hello. House work, you have none of these distractions and it is so mundane.

Thank you all for your thoughts and opinions on the moldy hay debate which I agree with. When I've heard people say that I've thought to myself that they were lazy or just did not care about their animals. But when I have no personal experience with that species I never said anything. If and when we come across moldy hay it hits the garbage rack, I will not even use it for bedding for the chickens. Twice a year, normally first warm day in spring and late fall we unstack all the hay, remove the boards they are stacked on and rake up and toss all the scattered hay on the ground. Some of it can be salvaged for bedding in the coop during winter, but if it is questionable it is thrown away. Then everything is restacked. Those are fun days depending on how much hay is left at the time. It is funny how Kris said cows will pick through and leave bad hay. With my 3 boys I can safely say Dirt would not touch it, he is picky with his good hay and picks through and only eats what he considers the good bits and pees on what he deems unsuitable. Louis and Russ, they would kill themselves, they leave nothing.
Now since I started a hay debate I feel I owe some tax. I will repay it with this video I took yesterday of the chicks out in the coop. This was taken for their new owner who picks them up Thursday.
Busy happy littles ♥️ ❤️ 🐤🐤🐤

And in comes Buttercup as I type this 💖 to say hi (which is code for do you have treats ha!).

Since it is Pony Sunday, and I was mentioning how you can get distracted doing outside chores here is a example. Went out to water everyone.
Dirt meets me with this face, he's itchy and needs his back scratched.

Ok fine, this went on for 5 minutes before I started emptying buckets.
I hit his favorite spot, at the base of his mane

Louis let me know he needed his head scratched

And Russ was ready and waiting to lick the back of my shirt as I filled up his bucket.

Oh and this is for Ponypoor, I know you get nervous with your girls in the horses stalls. Look at this picture, do you see something?

Yup, Momma and Karen are in their favorite daytime nap spot. While they are in there Dirt will avoid that area of his stall.

Oh you guys are killing me here with these babies 🤗 I get these desires to throw eggs under Curly... Bad Kelly for such thoughts! Bad bad Kelly!

Maybe a couple of chicks 🤗 ya I bet she would take some chicks... Just two... 2 wee silkie chicks - if I could say with certainty they would be hens I would! In a flash! Oh bad Kelly.....

Oh yes indeed! I must, must, must move the Hooligans into the special needs adapted brooder tonight so they can all explore the coop from a safe home. I am taking short cuts here there and everywhere (on the grounds it is only temporary) but am only half way done.
The fog just lifted and it is clear and sunny so I am hoping to be able to watch the lunar eclipse tonight while keeping an eye on the Hooligans in their new digs (I am afraid they will panic and flap around in the dark).
