It's a challenge keeping up here, lol. Currently working on a bumble foot on my RIR Nevada. My first bumble foot challenge. Yesterday I soaked her feet and got the scab off, but didn't get anything out. I put drawing salve on it and bandaged it. I got some cute pics of her trying to figure out if she could get it off, (she didn't) and if she could still walk (she could). But, my computer and I do not get along and trying to transfer them from the camera, POOF, they are gone. So here's an old pic.

I did massage her. She expelled a lot from her crop. Now she’s just standing around in the run.
massage should be aimed at breaking up the plug of stuff that is blocking it. That won’t be what she expelled. It will be some tough fibrous plug. If you can feel that now her crop is empty you may be able to break it up.
An alternative though I have never done it is to cut a small hole and pull it out.

Rocks-Anne isn’t well. Crop puffy and has breathing problems. No energy, and moving very slow. Clear discharge from her beak! I’m scared for her. She was fine yesterday. :barnie :hit
I'm praying for you and your poor Rocks-Anne. I hope she pulls through for you Alex. It is soo hard when one of our babies are sick.

But now I don’t understand how it isn’t a perpetual issue. It is impossible to eradicate roundworms from the soil (you literally have to replace a couple of inches of top soil).
I get that keeping them very confined creates additional issues - but although they don’t fully free range I think mine have plenty of space. They haven’t even explored half of it yet!
So is it just a question that sometimes they get sick from them and other times they can live with them?
I found this that suggests pumpkin seeds are somewhat effective as a preventative (not as a therapeutic). I have no idea if this is a reputable veterinary journal or not - I just sent it to a friend who is a retired research vet to see if he had any reaction.
I really don’t want to be continuously treating them!

There is also a homeopathic that works to keep them healthy to deal with worms. HomeoPet brand, good for all animals. Sold all over, but here is one link.

I don’t feel anything. She’s right here on my chest. She’s acting like she’s giving up. She would be six years old tomorrow (her hatch day) my favorite, friendliest one I have, she’s not fighting this. She usually fights hard to survive over the years. Today is different somehow. I don’t know what the problem is? Very sudden. :old :barnie :hit

Hahahahaha yup gotta luv kids 🤗

My 3 yr old niece told my blacksmith once 'Dinarah is a girl, do you know why?' she has boobies'...

Of course I almost had a stroke right there, but John he took it in stride laughing telling me, he had 3 daughters 😁

Kids, and animals - never a full moments!

BTW all those horses are beautiful 💖
Yup gotta love them. Ironically I tried so hard to watch what I said in front of her. I admit I was and am no saint when it came to my language. She picked up things from everyone else. Another phone call I got from the head start teacher was when she was demanding to know what "Poop soup" was and why was it her favorite meal. I had to explain it was what she called vegetable beef soup. She started calling it that on her own because it made her go to the bathroom After that one I begged Rosie not to repeat anything she heard or said at home.

Question: how accurate is the kippenjungle chicken genetics calculator? According to it, a gold penciled Hamburg crossed with a mottled Houdan results in a black split to mottled 100% of the time. 50% with rose combs, 50% with split rose combs (guessing fat v-vombs). I have 1 chick that has identical markings to Cheetah at the same age, but has cheek puffs and we know hatched out of a white egg (only white eggs came from my birds). Only cheeks in my birds are on Thing, making this chick an anomaly. However, I was just sent this pic
16251.jpeg

This one hatched with chipmunk stripes and there are ZERO birds in MIL tribes with crests. None of Storms eggs made it out of the shell. The 2 pips but not make it were her eggs). 2 anomalies out of the same hatch make me seriously question the accuracy of the calculator. any ideas? (BTW, this makes 4 crests for her lot)
