It's a challenge keeping up here, lol. Currently working on a bumble foot on my RIR Nevada. My first bumble foot challenge. Yesterday I soaked her feet and got the scab off, but didn't get anything out. I put drawing salve on it and bandaged it. I got some cute pics of her trying to figure out if she could get it off, (she didn't) and if she could still walk (she could). But, my computer and I do not get along and trying to transfer them from the camera, POOF, they are gone. So here's an old pic.
She's beautiful

Question: how accurate is the kippenjungle chicken genetics calculator? According to it, a gold penciled Hamburg crossed with a mottled Houdan results in a black split to mottled 100% of the time. 50% with rose combs, 50% with split rose combs (guessing fat v-vombs). I have 1 chick that has identical markings to Cheetah at the same age, but has cheek puffs and we know hatched out of a white egg (only white eggs came from my birds). Only cheeks in my birds are on Thing, making this chick an anomaly. However, I was just sent this pic

This one hatched with chipmunk stripes and there are ZERO birds in MIL tribes with crests. None of Storms eggs made it out of the shell. The 2 pips but not make it were her eggs). 2 anomalies out of the same hatch make me seriously question the accuracy of the calculator. any ideas? (BTW, this makes 4 crests for her lot)
When it comes to cross breeds I've come to the conclusion anything is possible. In theory crossing my BCM x Buff orp butter should not have ended up in white chicks. I got 3 from that cross. I'm growing out cricket and I will get new pictures of her today. She loos like a dalmatian, white with some black spots. Then we have Karen the cross chick who is chocolate colored. Twig so far is what I would expect from a silkie x Marans cross. Black, silkie toes, black skin, heavily feathered legs and feet and has puffy cheeks indicating Branch passed on his beard. It is yet to be determined if Twig will have silkie or hard feathers. I'm secretly hoping for hard feathers to go along with that beard.

As I am sure you realized I understood only about one word in 4 of this post. My calculator is 100% accurate and it says 'cute chick'!

It is 85 out and horribly humid. Momma hen and Karen think it is the perfect time to sun bathe.

I love the Dalmatian spots. Do you think they will continue into adulthood?

Yup I see a beard and muffs. If twig gets normal feathers it could sport a face just like that.
And in that photo you can see a bit of green sheen. I do love a black chicken!
Next I need one with gold in the hackles. But first I have to get through the Bernadette mobility issues.
