Oh no!! What happened?
So Sorry to hear this, hopefully your vet is able to help with it… :hugs
Oh no! Will looked for updates 💖
What happened! 😢
So Dr Kevin thinks it might be that Lottie hasn’t developed an immunity to coccidia, it’s preventing her from absorbing nutrients and as a result, she has absolutely no muscle on her. He’s given her another dose of Baycox, but a direct dose instead of in the water. He also suggested bringing her inside as he didn’t think she’d be coping with the cold. So I now have a house chicken! She’s in a dog crate in the bathroom and I just brought Snowy inside to snuggle up with her to keep her company and help keep her warm.

Snowy sat on my lap whilst Lottie had something to eat and a big drink, so I also had a lap chicken! Snowy made chatty little noises and I even got a little purr! :love Then she ate something and I popped her into bed. Fingers crossed I can get Lottie well! :fl

Poor baby. I'm sure that you can get her healthy. It will take some time and patience though. You can do it. :hugs :hugs

It is so amazing that you got the purr.

Oh poor little Lottie! I love that she got a snuggle buddy. So sweet.

Oh, no, Lauren! What is wrong? I'm hoping she can be treated.... :fl

:hugs:hugs:hugs
SHRA: you already posted the response.

I do hope @BY Bob is correct and you will be able to help her get well. Snowy sounds like a dear, and a good companion for Lottie (and a bit of a comfort for you, too!) I'll be looking for positive updates in the days to come. :hugs:fl :hugs:fl

Edited: Could you give her some concentrated nutrients, like what @micstrachan uses (?save a chick?), or nutri drench for poultry, or something similar, mixed in with her feed to help give her a boost initially?

SHRA tax:

I have to share my happy news.
Bernadette is standing ON BOTH FEET!!!!

I haven’t been posting much on her but she has lost most function in her right leg (the original problem was in the left leg). She could stand on her left leg but couldn’t put her right foot down to walk. So she would fall over and use her wing to propel herself forward. She developed sores on her right hock from landing and walking on it and I was beginning to lose hope.
I bandaged the sores and have strapped her leg in various ways to force the right leg into a more straight position. And I have been doing physical therapy so her tendons don’t shorten.
This has been going on for weeks and now this morning we are both rewarded by this! I cannot tell you how happy I am to see her standing on both feet.

Yay! I bet it was just a molt all along. What a relief!
I am tending to think the same with my niece's hen.

But we did take a poop sample and will send to lab, and give long lasting antibiotics if the sample is negative.

The hen has watery green droppings, her vent is dirty, and low energy, she is eating and drinking though.
