I have to share my happy news.
Bernadette is standing ON BOTH FEET!!!!

I haven’t been posting much on her but she has lost most function in her right leg (the original problem was in the left leg). She could stand on her left leg but couldn’t put her right foot down to walk. So she would fall over and use her wing to propel herself forward. She developed sores on her right hock from landing and walking on it and I was beginning to lose hope.
I bandaged the sores and have strapped her leg in various ways to force the right leg into a more straight position. And I have been doing physical therapy so her tendons don’t shorten.
This has been going on for weeks and now this morning we are both rewarded by this! I cannot tell you how happy I am to see her standing on both feet.

I'm really happy for both of you! I always felt Bernadette wasn't going to give up. She may be less daring than she was as a baby but I think she has a strong chicken will to live. With all you do for her, I believe it will always see her through even if she encounters other setbacks!

She seems to be but she's finding it hard with this banging and drilling, it has made her edgy that as well as Princess being a drama queen.
Princess has caused a lot of upset in the coop, so flex started sleeping out on the run perches with Princess (I think to keep her calm, but she's tired out there) last night I made flex go inside too sleep and she went in early after her cuddles tonight when she ate her fruit sunflower seeds and lettuce. She's in with Tina and Agatha now they all sleep well together.

Princess is out on the perch so they all should sleep good tonight, I hope

I have a couple doing this also! And my niece's hen is not feely well I told her I think she is molting!

They do get down when they molt

I started getting guests to give treats, now I have cookie Monster chickens!! Whenever anyone comes by they get mobbed by chickens hahaha.

Imagine someone terrified of chickens being mobbed by my motley crew!!! They run screaming and the chickens run after them looking for food

Sounds like my backyard. Plus dogs. Lol

Electric fencing is awesome. And very entertaining with foxes and kids haha hahahahaha

Run 2 strands one about 6 inches off the ground the second one at 2 feet off the ground. Will also keep cats, dogs, racoons and coyotes at bay. Endless hours of entertainment with wildlife and kids

You can get battery operated fencers or plug in ones. The one I have (original for the horses) is good for 25miles and 12,000volts

Yes my fence is battery charged with a tiny solar panel that is attached. Place it, connect it, and forget about it! Works fine even in winter.

I'm switching off. I haven't even got the energy to shower right now. I've had too deal with this roof since early Friday morning.

Thanks! Would you believe I actually have two molting right now? I need to get some buttermilk, which is one way to give them a little boost in their mash. I also snuck them some baby bird formula this past weekend. Need to get some beef liver and unsalted sardines, as well.

I am also seeing feathers dropping all over here. So far, they are all still laying though. Usually, they most in late summer. Weird.

From what I have seen your yard is already fenced so it won't do much for you - I am in open country and need to create some boundaries for chickens and foxes.
Get some rest and hope the roof won't take too much longer.
