The chooks are still not adapting to the change. They all are more stand-Offish to me, than usual. I’m wondering if they blame me for Rocks-Anne’s demise? :idunno
I have had guests over lately, so maybe they are just afraid of humans in general?
I would guess the new people is off putting to them. I'm sure they don't blame you. :hugs :hugs

Foxes and weasels. We have an entire fox family and in the middle of the night they sound like they are screaming. They have gotten 4 of ours...
Have they broken into the coop at night? Fox are terrible predators to fight with. Once they know where the chickens are they keep coming back.

So Dr Kevin thinks it might be that Lottie hasn’t developed an immunity to coccidia, it’s preventing her from absorbing nutrients and as a result, she has absolutely no muscle on her. He’s given her another dose of Baycox, but a direct dose instead of in the water. He also suggested bringing her inside as he didn’t think she’d be coping with the cold. So I now have a house chicken! She’s in a dog crate in the bathroom and I just brought Snowy inside to snuggle up with her to keep her company and help keep her warm.

Snowy sat on my lap whilst Lottie had something to eat and a big drink, so I also had a lap chicken! Snowy made chatty little noises and I even got a little purr! :love Then she ate something and I popped her into bed. Fingers crossed I can get Lottie well! :fl

I really like this plan because she can't pick up coccidia inside. So all she has to do is eat, sleep and poop. That's a very healing routine.

I'm giving Agatha an antibiotic, does anyone think it would be best too treat all of them? As they are so close.

Flexi is very tired lately but this could be because of the work that's going on here
It is not. Antibiotic usage should be targeted and rare. Unless they are exhibiting the same problem. You need to preserve antibiotics and limit their usage to essential situations.

I have to share my happy news.
Bernadette is standing ON BOTH FEET!!!!

I haven’t been posting much on her but she has lost most function in her right leg (the original problem was in the left leg). She could stand on her left leg but couldn’t put her right foot down to walk. So she would fall over and use her wing to propel herself forward. She developed sores on her right hock from landing and walking on it and I was beginning to lose hope.
I bandaged the sores and have strapped her leg in various ways to force the right leg into a more straight position. And I have been doing physical therapy so her tendons don’t shorten.
This has been going on for weeks and now this morning we are both rewarded by this! I cannot tell you how happy I am to see her standing on both feet.
:wee

Well done RC!! You've done wonders with her. And she's done ger part too. You're a pair of champs!

I got my second Shell less, I'm not sure who this time.
Last time it was Shirina. I'll keep an eye on it, but so far I'm not terribly concerned unless it becomes a pattern.
That seems like the proper response. That's how I handle them.

Maybe they are just mourning, and need time to process it, just like you. Give them a week or two.... :hugs :hugs :hugs

Thanks! Would you believe I actually have two molting right now? I need to get some buttermilk, which is one way to give them a little boost in their mash. I also snuck them some baby bird formula this past weekend. Need to get some beef liver and unsalted sardines, as well.
Is it a light/soft moult? Some chickens have a soft moult in the spring.
