This is why I’m bringing Snowy in each night so Lottie can cuddle up to her. The thought of her being alone 24/7 for days on end is abhorrent.
It's also a challenge to ensure lower rank animals receive proper socialization - I have found that some prefer smaller groups rather than larger ones. This can also be found with other animals including humans.

We have a problem! Jaffar is slow today now too. He spends a lot of his time laying down. That’s not normal for him. If it’s the heat (not too bad today) ? If it’s something else wrong, I’m not sure. I brought him inside with me, and he just laid down again. I’m keeping him in for the rest of the evening. Earlier, he was doing his “roostering” but he seems worn out now. I love this little guy so much, maybe I’m just being over-cautious! :old :idunno
It's ok to be cautious, he is and older guy right? Some rest in a cooler environment is good.

I read a veterinarian journal and learned that it would be a good idea to bring Jaffar in for the night (say goodnight Jaffar) I hope that he’s okay in the morning.
I hope so too🤞! Check his crop and his poop in the morning.

I'm very much a beginner at keeping a rooster, but I got the advice to avoid separating roosters from their flocks unless necessary and not for long. The reason is that it will be harder for them than for hens, both to be separated and to reintegrate, as their role in the flock is so specific and important.

I really hope so but how long it it going to take? You wouldn’t think one tiny little chicken could take up an entire bathroom!

Pop quiz: how many chickens are in this picture?

What is the purpose of keeping them in? Is it separation from wild birds? Or something else?

Thirsty Thursday

How hard is it to get a nice picture of the gals having a drink.

The gals especially Blanche had a blast splashing and scratching through puddles, they are likely happy the heat has broke.
