We are expected to get down to 3C/37F tonight, almost as cold last night and the next couple are also going to be chillers. Hope we don't lose the garden to frost. I keep thinking it will get warm one of these days.

It was 8C yesterday morning, got to 22, today it was 12c when I got up, and supposed to be 25C

But tomorrow it's going to be around 30!!! With about 18 overnight.

These wild swings are very hard on the animals, my horses hate it, and so do the hens. Tonight I will put the box fan page in the hen house so they don't overheat too much

.... Oh and Saturday back to mid teens and lows in single digits.

I am so sorry to hear about Agatha's passing. She is at peace now and no longer in any discomfort. Daisy just has me at a loss for words right now. I spent the morning waiting on the back steps for a zoom Dr appointment that they forgot about. Daisy was in the creek fishing. How does a hen go from deaths door to acting like nothing was the matter?
I am glad she is enjoying herself.

2 for Tuesday. Momma hen and Karen.

A free ranging Barnvelder and an Arsehole Chicken named “July 5th Sausage” with the loss of Barney I may be rearranging his Tribe into the Free Range Flock.

And Barred mama isn’t doing a great job of keeping her chick let in tow (I may try to stuff her under Creamsicle…). I’m sort of doubting barred mama will be getting to go broody again unless she starts parenting a bit better

What lovely colors Scarface is getting!

Looks like his brother is listening to the stories....he's checking out the human coop as he listens!!!
More than checking out… sigh it’s “outside chickens!” Season again I caught one of the red girls trying to lay under our TV yesterday… I need to put a handle of some sort and block off the screen doors sliding plastic opening gap (the plastic broke) as they are flying right through it 🤦‍♀️

Add me into the “animals” list. Torrential rains to muggy sun…

Positive! And whoever mentioned meat chick…. Well I’m thinking you might be right! Either Chunks by a Sapphire Maran Cross Hen or one of the meat gals by Dean…
I love your little chicks. I will admit to being partial to yours though as they tend to be some form of Marans crosses. I do not know how your pure Marans were in temperament, but I'm finding with mine the crosses are inheriting the gentle Marans temperament of my flock. Little Twiggy my silkie x Marans cross is already at almost 3 weeks old a perfect combo of its parents. Twiggy is bold like its daddy and sweet as well. It's already hopping up in my lap and napping while Bunny and George do their own thing beside me.
