Awwww 🤗 now I wanna give Marty some chicks, and Misty and Whiskers.... 2 each 😊

I admit I feel some pride in her success. There were a couple of times when I nearly gave up hope and I did feel like most people would consider me rather foolish for doing the boots and the physical therapy and strapping up her hocks when they got caloused. But right now I am feeling it was all so worthwhile!
She is a beauty - I need to get some good pictures of her gold neck which is stunning - and as far as I can tell she is still the leader of the Hooligans tribe - they certainly follow her, so now she is more mobile and exploring they have all increased their range considerably.
So happy!
I have observed an interesting thing which is they have real strategies to avoid the Roadrunners - for example they are most active and wander furthest in the evening when the Roadrunners are chowing down on their pre-roost face-stuffing and therefore predictably at the feeder.

Tax: Bella the beautiful bearded lady

I am so happy to hear Bernadette has overcame her disability. Heartfelt congratulations to you both. You for not giving up even when she took turns for the worse and when it seemed like she would never get better. Bernadette for having the will to keep fighting. If she had not had that fight in her and will to live it this may not have been able to be possible.
Also, Bella is beautiful and going to be a big girl. I have no shame in saying I want her as she would be a perfect addition to my flock. All jokes aside I am soo happy you have your own black hen now to love.

Awwww so lovely 🤗

I told my gals when I will need the lottery i will get them a nice little silkie Roo to boss around 😊

I also told them not to hold their breath on that 😏
Why wait until you hit the lottery. Keep a watch on your local facebook livestock groups. It will not be long until all the people who rushed out this spring to buy chicks will start realizing they have boys. Not everyone wants the boys so you can find you a nice silkie boy for a fairly decent price if not free. Silkies make lovely little roosters. They are small enough not to hurt your girls and even if they crow their fool heads off, their voices do not carry as much as the big boys. Jury is still out on Ezzie. The hooligans turn 5 months old in about a week, still no crowing but I am suspecting boy now based on the richness of the red coloring and the way the tail feathers are coming in. I'm not disappointed though, I love Ezzie's color and personality. I have zero problems saying I have 2 silkie boys. If I did have to rehome him if their was a way I'd send him to you to love.

Thank you!
I do think Bella will be a big girl. I haven’t weighed her yet because roosting seems like such a chaotic process right now that once they are settled I haven’t wanted to disturb them - but she is clearly bigger than the others. Bernadette seems less chunky but is quite tall (I wonder if her long legs have anything to do with her nerve issues - like the nerves had to grow further?). Anyway, I am reluctant to say we are out of the woods with her and I am continuing supplements - but she is getting less because she is exploring more and finding other food without the vitamins added. I am hoping that is all for the good.
I am also calmer about integration as she can clearly run away from the Roadrunners and the Hooligans have now learned more of the layout of the Chicken Palace and so know their way back ‘home’. I really think they lost a few weeks there when they didn’t stray from the Hooligan HQ cardboard box. But they are making up for lost time now.
Tax - Maggie and Bernadette studiously ignoring each other and me (the blue at the back is me hanging out on the chair in the chicken yard).

Excellent ! I have to say both Grochatila and his sister Hibou have been behaving really well. It helps that they're sleeping most of the day due to the heat.
But the chicks don't have it easy at all, my rooster has decided he wants to kill their mum 😬 and chase them away.

Awwww thanks - he would be a spoilt little prince hahaha :D

My big issue is my work situation - I am hoping to get on another pipeline project and don't want my mum to have too much work and trouble. Right now I am working at a job here in the area which is not a good fit for me, but it is paying some bills so can't complain... no matter how much I do complain - right Bob? :)

As it is I send the horses out to be boarded when I am away - it's just too much for her and she is 76 now - I don't mind her doing my chores when I am here in town working, but I don't want her moving horses in and out of the barn, she isn't a horse person. And if someone was ill she wouldn't know how to care for them.

One day I will be retired and then I can commit my full attention to my critters!

Tax:

I was watching the F-18s go overhead - sorry couldn't get any photos - my new camera has an LED screen for viewing (rather than an eye piece) so makes it hard in bright sunlight to see anything.

But the horses didn't move a muscle hahaha - the chickens jumped the first fly by, but then ignored them. I am perched on top of the manure pile (Mt Poopmore) - brrrrr the wind up there was rather chilly hahaha!

You just have to enter the family portrait picture into POW or the calendar competition or something. It is such a lovely picture!
