Oh yes! A fire pit is a must but you can keep the snow! Saw all I wanted of the white stuff while in Europe. Not impressed.

One of the reasons my coop is so big is to accommodate long term confinement due to a blizzard. We get them too often.

Well, considering the last time I mentioned how we almost never see the horrid white stuff here and we were plunged into several weeks of sun-zero temperatures and a couple feet of it...

The only way I really like snow is in pretty pictures other people are posting of it. Or perhaps seen from a respectful distance on some picturesque mountains. Brrrr... not very Canadian of me, I know, but I live on an island just off a rainforest; I’m not meant for that kind of weather! One winter of -20C and I was moving back south to the coast as soon as the roads were safe to travel and as quickly as I was able... haven’t really looked back fondly on that weather, but at least we had a wood stove!

That was long before I had chickens though, I’m quite interested in how you got them through it. Just in case I forget and open my big mouth again this “winter”, cursing us with further freezing temps thanks to my good friend Mr. Murphy

We absolutely LOVE snow!! We have gotten snow 5 times in my 51 years... December 2017 we had the most snow we’ve ever had and it brought joy incomparable!!! We all become elated children! As it is a sight to behold down here... I can’t even express the amount of joy it brings us.. really!! Sorry for poor quality... these are pics of pics..

I live here for the 4 seasons. I love them all. I really enjoy a good blizzard. Snuggled up for days with the fireplace blazing. It's a good escape from the world. Clean up is hard but I have the equipment so it's really not that awful. I do know that the chickens hate snow. Well, I don't know if Maleficent or Aurora do yet ...

Glad you got to experience it! Up north we 'enjoy' it quite often during half the year....

PS I'm kinda shocked y'all even own winter jackets and hats!
