And what would the chickens do without their bunny friends to talk to?

Earlier this year the chooks were trying to run the bunnies off. Since the bunnies have gotten a little bigger, tolerance for them has risen. No one has chased a bunnie in a while.
:D

Is this even possible?!

Everyone, I need your help. Maleficent is about 8 months old. Is there any chance she is broody? Check out the video below.
:hmm
Her and Hattie were all out fighting over the nesting box today and Hattie lost. I went to clean the coop today and when I opened the door she screamed at me.
:rant

Mal only came out once to eat today and the video is of her in the nesting box tonight. She did not roost. This is completely unexpected.

Hey Bob, how’s Maleficent’s broodiness going? She and my Charlie can be broody together! I asked my friend Kim (who’s also a crazy chook lady) how long the hormones last and she replied “We’re only at the beginning of spring!” :barnie I shoo Charlie out of the nest and take any eggs away, she then goes and has something to eat, has a dirt bath, free-ranges etc. I’ve heard some people say they lock their broodys in a cage of shame for three days to snap them out of it, is that really necessary?!

It sure can be necessary to lock them away. The key when you lock them up is not provide a solid floor. If they can't warm a nest up it apparently breaks them.

I'm still letting Mal sit the nest. I want to see how determined she is before I try and break her. I figure I can let her go almost 2 weeks, that should be a good measuring point. She sure is determined right now. No signs of any give up. I tried to feed her mealy worms while she was the nest and she about took my hand off.

I am concerned as to where the others are laying their eggs right now. There were none in the other nesting box. I fear I may have an Easter Egg hunt on my hands out in the yard very soon!
:he

Breakfast By and With the Ladies

My wife is headed off to spend the weekend with my daughter and Eve so she brought me breakfast under the magnolia tree as a treat.

At first I thought Aurora might be angry over me eating her eggs but I should have known better.

She just wanted some!
