She's always been scruffy, now I know why. I ought to have considered the cost of her beak to her grooming.

Poor girl. That had to hurt. Can a beak grow back?

Studies suggest that the pain and distress doesn't end after the beak is trimmed.

I don't know. I hope so. @Shadrach would know.

There is some scope for repair, but proper regrowth from what I've read doesn't happen.
You can reshape a damaged beak, but it takes an awful long time.

I was rather shocked when I first saw her; the other three’s beaks were rounded at the tip but mostly intact.

That is awful. Poor girl. I hope her friends help her do her feathers. I want to cry over the cruelty of it.

Is it wrong that I feel before you can trim a chickens beak you should have your dominate index finger removed?

Such cruelty. Humans can really suck sometimes.
