Mary lays a pinkish egg from time to time.

I'm thinking of using the rain water through the misting system. It should work out close to ideal in terms of volume collected and volume misted. But I'd need a powerful water pump to keep the pressure up in the misting system :)

The planning and creativity is the best part for me!
Me too - I love all the designing and planning - I need to take some pics because it is really coming along - most of the wire and cattle panel barricades are in place.
I am wondering about a pump too - but in my case to prevent freezing.

I don’t have any hen only flocks myself... so far, from what I can tell, the human often takes on the “rooster” role. Providing food, and being looked to for security. I see a lot more hen/human interaction, though that could also be the level of care/love/involvement of the humans in those hen flocks. I certainly have relationships with all my roosters, but I am ancillary to the flock for the most part, excepting Sammy and the rehab girls and some hens in mr Marans flock. Bob’s girls couldn’t care less about me, unless I’m holding the blue bucket of happiness (feed), then I’m interesting.

@BY Bob , @Ribh , and @MaryJanet all seem to take on a more rooster-like role with their girls, from what I’ve read. And have deeper relationships with their hens. It seems to be an entirely different dynamic.

It is true. The big difference between when Jabber was here and not is my relationship with the flock. When Jabber was here I had to be distant from them. He did not like me being anywhere near them.

Without the rooster, Maleficent sits in my lap. They swarm me when I come out. When Jabber had the flock, that did not occur. He kept them on the other side of yard away from me and when they came around me he did not like it and would try to shuffle them away.

I think you have enough material there for a book Bob. I'd buy your flock stories, especially if you include pictures.

Or perhaps you could collect them all together when finished and make an article called "A Fluffy Butt Biography"

That is why I started the thread. I wanted a place to record and share my stories. This has become more and I love it.

That does sound like a lot of work :(

Bob, have you been writing up your stories in a word document then posting them on here? That would make it easier to post them chronologically all in one place later (like in a book! :D)

They long ones are mostly written in word. Word has no photos though. The photos are all done on BYC directly.
