While I was being lazy in the blue chair, gloating over my flock, a hawk visited. Threw the ball for the dog (to make her visible to the hawk), quickly got my a$$ out of the chair, blew my whistle and they all came running. Hawk took off shortly after it could see me pacing around and the dog zooming around. I need to be more careful than that.

Bob, how’s the safety project coming along?

Everyone is locked in the coop. No safety enhancements this weekend. We went to see my granddaughter. I'll start work on hardening the section of the run under the coop so they have some non coop space to roam.

I have the camera set up outside the coop and run on motion sensing tonight to try and catch the predator to prove what I am dealing with. I can't trap if I'm not home in case I would trap something.

Got home well after dark today and was a bit worried about the Princesses even though the runs are now nearly attack-proof. But nearly of course is not good enough to keep me calm. Anyway, everyone is safe and grumpy at being woken up. They are all “What’s going on? Don’t you know us girls need our beauty sleep?!” Left to right that is Elizabeth, Diana, and Maggie (she is the most talkative and likes human company and conversation).

Hey @BY Bob , sorry if you’ve already covered this before, but can you share what you use for a coop cam? I’m interested in a coop cam, plus a couple game cams. Are they the same thing? I don’t have power in my coop, so thinking of battery or solar.

I use Arlo battery powered security cams as I also do not have power at my coop. There is a base station that attaches to you internet router and then with 1 button you synch the camera to the base station. The range from the base unit to the camera can supposedly be about 100 ft. You access the cameras from an app or website. You can record and store anything you want on their server for 30 days. Pictures and videos can be downloaded with 1 click.
