so good to know there is someone else in the world who doesn't either!
I used to have a minimum of two mobile phones when I was in the UK. It's very difficult in many lines of work to operate without one.
I've had computers (3 here atm) for a very long time but they weren't connected to the Internet.
I've never owned a TV.
I'm not at all anti technology and I'm quite good with most of it although the so called smart phones would have me guessing.
If the Internet fell to bits I doubt I would miss it much. It would make keeping in touch with my daughters and family more difficult but otherwise the Internet is much like TV; a great idea not reaching anything like it's true potential.

So after that beautiful weekend, we're having a cold snap here in California! I think we'll dip a few degrees below freezing tonight. My coop is pretty open and it is not insulated. They'll be fine, right? Wearing down coats and all?

Oh, and guess what? I'm pretty sure Ruby is laying. I'm keeping close watch, since she fell ill last year and going on hormones (to stop laying and give her oviduct a breatk) was part of her treatment.

They should be fine. Mine handle stretches below 0°F just fine. The key is keeping the wind off of them.

Skunk!

The cameras caught something last night, a very large skunk patrolling around the coop. I am not convinced this is my killer. They are usually scavengers.

As I look at the time stamps, the skunk was around the coop for 40 minutes! That seems like a long time. There is nothing there to eat. What was it doing?

Also got freezing temperatures and the “s” word here today. They will be fine. As long as they are dry and have shelter from the wind they seem to be able to keep warm. Most of the awful white stuff has melted (you can have it back, thanks @BY Bob!) , but there was some frost and crunchy vegetation when I finished up the painting tonight. On another note... the ads here are now trying to sell me contractor sized pails of paint, in addition to the mattresses, boats, and dairy equipment they are usually pushing. Naughty phone has been spying on me again! :gig

I'll take all the snow you can send!!! We haven't had a really decent snow yet this year and I'm missing it.

I would like 1 big snow storm, 20+ inches to remind me what either is about. Then let's melt it and get on with spring.

I am going out now to check for digging. Its the only way it could try to get in.
Do tell what you find. 40 mins does not feel like a casual passer by. I think skunks can kill or hurt chickens - I think they are opportunistic rather than either strictly scavengers. Do be careful trapping a skunk though - it will stink the coop and house and everything around.
