Yes so the structure you see in the camera is the first run of the Chicken Palace. You can see her investigating how to break in. And she has been there often as there are muddy paw prints on the wire all the way up to the roof. So far my Fort Knox approach to construction of the Chicken Palace seems to be holding up. I have cattle panels up to 4' and 1/2" hardware cloth from top to bottom and a skirt out 2' of both cattle panel and hardware cloth. I haven't figured out quite how yet but I am also going to run an electric wire at 'nose height' around the outside. Seeing the raccoon in action has made it even clearer to me that I need everything I can throw at security!
Definitely do the electric wire and put some decent voltage through it.

I'm glad we don't have them here.
They are really nasty. They will reach those little hands through the wire and pull the chicken to them if they can. That's another reason for hardware cloth. Hands don't fit through.

Looking hopeful Bob. :)
I was secretly quite worried that something on that scale would work. I'm also seeing interesting pairings throughout the day now. I actually think Lilly getting hurt has sped things up as well.

Notch has been bringing his tribe around again. It's the first time for the youngsters. The other two moved out of the picture before I pressed the shutter.:he

I started mixing them on Feb 22. That would be a month I guess.
That sounds about right. I think it usually takes a month here too, although this time it sorted itself out faster. Probably because they already knew each other from before.

That makes sense.
