Here's a series of photos for you Bob.

You can see where her new feathers have come in on her rump and shoulder. They are almost a whipped cream or buttery colour.

Are you quite finished taking photos yet?
Sorry Tsuki, I am obliged to send tribute to your biggest fan. 🐔
( Also, notice the new feathers on her face that haven't quite fluffed out yet)
Awwww. :love

You just need a little Opera House silhouette in the background. ;)
That's what I was thinking!

The Ceramic Eggs are Gone

I realized a couple weeks ago that the ceramic eggs were missing from the nesting boxes. I assumed they kicked them out into the coop again.

Well I cleaned the coop out completely on Sunday. Soup to nuts as they say. No ceramic eggs

Did they eat them? Of course not.

What happened to them?

The last time this happened my brother was the culprit. Mrs BY Bob thinks it happened again.

While we were at the beach a few weeks back, the chickens knocked the coop camera down and my brother went over to put it back up for me. I told him to take any eggs as a reward. Mrs BY Bob thinks he took the ceramic ones as well.

The funny thing is that has happened before. That time I got them back. I had a hard time getting him to understand the first time that I don't have any white egg layers that he could not eat the white ones. It was like an Abbott and Costello routine on the phone. My wife was laughing so hard by the end of it but my brother did finally give them back.

If he does have them this time I'm going to wait and see how long until he brings them back. I'm not going through that again and he should figure it out when he tries to crack them. Of course he may crack a bowl trying to crack the egg. :gig

Here is my neice with Phyllis and then the whole flock. This is from when they came over to fix the camera. She loves the hens and was the little girl that started the whole Thanksgiving incident with Lilly. She has grown up nicely.

Have you ever broken one? We have ... played the trick on someone where you throw it and say catch  ... well, it’s hollow and breaks quite easily... so he may crack it only to find an empty egg:eek::gig

This is for any of you eggsperts out there... can anyone tell me why do some of my chickens jump on top of my Silkie and smash her down!? Even her “daughters” (Cochin bantams) do it to her.. and sometimes when it happens.. a big one will be smashing her down while some of the others are pecking her :th.... it’s so crazy! For the most part they all get along and she hangs out with everyone without incident... she grew up with the standards and they never treated her badly.. she is just one of them.. so what’s up wit dat!? I sometimes want to move her to her own coop with a couple of other Silkies but I know she would be miserable and just try to return to her flock...
