@BY Bob Come on, you know that bird. Phyliss, is a cunning, crafty, relentless cutie and you know it! Sorry to hijack this thread, but some things must be said. (just don't let that fluffy white feathering fool you) She's a puffy white cloud. And as you know too, that every silver lining has a dark cloud. "or something like that" :gig :D

That is such a great shot RC! Lovely side profiles like the Royals they are. You could mint your own coins or postage stamps! 🤩 Did you notice that they have Princess names too WhoDat? It took me a bit before I realized. 😝 Do it RC! You know you want to! :lau
We are all enablers here, ask ByBob. Besides you might get one that lays blue eggs! (sorry Bob )
Hooray! Are you thinking chicks or pullets?

Oh you all really are enablers - and now I am on it!
I have already checked for hens to adopt in the area but unsurprisingly they are all roosters and I really am not allowed to have a rooster.
There is a family farm not far from me that has a hatchery business, so my next step is to contact them and learn about what they do to see if I 'approve' (if you see what I mean) and if they seem like a good set up then I will see who they have who might like to join the kingdom. I am open minded - but those little baby wrens have really got me wanting some chicks!
The current Princesses were not named by me but by the kid whose school project they were, so I am not feeling constrained to similar names for any newcomers - they will become princesses simply by moving into the Chicken Palace!

By the standard measures of space per bird, the Chicken Palace could house 30+ birds, but I believe a Princess needs her space (and the standard measures seem waaay too small to me) so my thought was to expand the flock very gradually maybe add 2-3 a year for the next few years.

Naww! They are royalty, so build a bigger castle.

Hooray! I like to give back and help everyone who encouraged me to get 3 hens instead of 2.

Seems like a good strategy and new friends every year will be great.

OK, it's an officially weird day today. I just got back from the barn/coop, and Ben wanted a hug. Rocks-Anne wanted to lap sit, 19 others won't come down from their perches. Blu is usually the first for food but not today. Jaffar is being a butt,:rant so I separated him from the hens.
I usually have 3-4 phone texts by now while I feed the birds, but no. The rest are all eating and drinking, but the nesting boxes are empty. Yes, it's gonna be a weird day i'm guessing!

Our other two residents came to us in April as chicks. My wife raised them until they moved outside and then they became my responsibility.

Hattie is our lavender orpington hen. She has not starting laying yet but i expect she will once the days turn longer.

Jabberwockie, Jabber for short, was supposed to be an Easter Egger hen, however, he is clearly not a hen.

He and Hattie are inseperable.
I love Hattie's fluffy pantaloons, and Jabber is such a handsome boy!
