May 20th

May 20th has historically been a good day for the members of Fluffy Butt Acres. Let's review.

Mr. Peabody, set the way back machine for 2017.

This was one of the best chicken days ever at Fluffy Butt Acres. The yard inside the fence has grown way too high. I decided that before I cut it, I would let the ladies have at it. What resulted was a great day of grazing and napping the likes of which have never been seen again. Here are the girls, the big three in all their glory, enjoying a magnificent day in the high grass.

After a day in the high grass, naps were in order.

Of course when the day was ending, the queen needed to survey her kingdom one last time before bed.

It was a great day, May 20, 2017.

Mr. Peabody, set the way back machine for 4 years earlier, 2013.

The coop was complete and the pullets moved out of the house into it. A grand day for them. Here are 3 of the first 6 ladies to live at Fluffy Butt Acres.

OK, Mr. Peabody, let's go back to today. Set the way back machine for 2020.

Something special happened today as well. @Shadrach Noticed how she was laying in the video the other day. Sydney is broody!

I love the way they are watching you! They have a critical eye, i think.

A critical eye for sure, and lots of opinions! My work fixing wire is accompanied by ‘you missed a bit’ and ‘that screw is crooked’ and ‘I preferred it with the door at the other end’.
What I love is that the minute I am there they settle nearby (well except for the hole digger of course). I am of the theory that they just like company.

I would take that ride on the "way back machine" then my hen "Sunshine" would be a young pullet, so full of love and energy, not buried in the yard like today!

So Millie’s broodiness has soared to new heights.

I’m working like a maniac, so only removed her from the nest s few times each day the ladt few days. I think it’s crate time. Will this do? i’ll put a puppy pad under the cooling rack.

I agree. They do love your company. They like to be near us and I think they find us interesting.
