I had to Know

We got home at dusk tonight. I had to see everyone. Here are their surprised faces. Look in the lower left corner.

Is it egg buying time Mr Bob?
I believe I will getting eggs for her. Yup. If she is still going strong tomorrow, we are going to do this. I'm a little excited and apprehensive. I haven't done this before. When I was a young lad we always gave Speck chicks after we let her set golf balls instead of eggs.

I'm going to be counting on everyone to help me get her through this.

Bob, this is so exciting! How many will you get? You know you’ll proba ly end up with at least one male. 😊
I believe that we will be going with a small number, maybe 3. I am assuming there will be males. The plan is to let Syndey, set, hatch, and raise them until they are old enough to go off on their own. I do not intend to keep any. I simply do not have space, so I am planning to rehome them all. It will be hard to let them go but being at capacity will help.

I want her to satisfy her instincts and I will do all I can to get them good homes. I really hope this works. :fl

Do you all remember a few days ago when I mentioned a heat wave we were expecting? Well, it hit today. The girls did a good job finding the coolest spots in the yard. Interestingly, both Buckeyes took it the hardest. It was a bit tough for Buttercup (Brahma), as well. Tuesday and Wednesday will be warmer yet.
I was outside all day again today, tending to chickens, digging up and raking out rocks in the clay soil. It was fabulous. Shad, I hauled around so many buckets of water and a couple of chicken litter (to mix in the soil) I cracked myself up thinking of Bucket Boy. My flock must think the same of me. Both bucket mister fans were in use most of the day. I love those things! I also have a few rechargeable (via USB) mini clip fans and two are going in the coop right now since poor Minnie is open mouth breathing and a few are holding their wings out. I was proud of myself because I was charging batteries and fans all day off my awesome Jackery solar panel and power bank.
In case anyone noticed, yes, I do have a Millie and a Minnie. Millie usually goes by Little Mill. And Minnie? Well, it took me a month to name her. She was almost Tiny. Or Itty Bitty. Or Bitty. But Minnie stuck, even though I already had Millie.
