It only seems I haven't had any luck with my flock lately. 6 birds gone in 3 months. Raising them over these years took patience, strength and a lot of loving. I feel as if I lose part of myself when I lose any of my beloved pets.
I think we all do. We all have felt that pain. We are all deeply attached to these wonderful animals.

That is a lot of grief in a short period of time. Please make sure to give yourself the grace to work through it all. :hugs :hugs

Hot Lava

When my brother and I were small we invented a game one rainy day to keep ourselves occupied. The game was called "Lava". The principal of the game was quite simple. The floor was lava. The only way to keep from dying was to stay on the furniture. If any part of you touched the ground, you were burned up by the lava and the other person won. There were multiple variations on the game, sometimes there was a quest and the teo of us would have to work together to retrieve something from across the room. Other times it would be a race or of course, a Battle Royale to force the other one to touch the floor. We had great fun playing it although we did too over a lot of furniture, we never broke anything. (That I can remember)

So why tell you about this? By early afternoon yesterday, the hens in my flock were treating the sunlight light like lava. And like little boys, they seemed to get as close as they could without venturing into it. Check this out.

I’m really sorry Alex, that’s so hard for anyone to bear. Take care of yourself, I hope you have some better luck soon. :hugs

I’ve just posted on the ER threads but wanted to ask here; has anyone noticed their heavy moulters do weird poos? I found one today and I’m not sure if it is Charlie, but it’s green and looks like tiny sausages in amongst wee. Bed poos from last night all look normal but I’m staying vigilant. I put Piperazine in the water a few days ago but that only treats roundworm. Now would be a good time to give them Avitrol Plus as there is a withholding period and nobody is laying right now.

Sorry, Lozzy I'm not very good with stuff like this :( I hope it's nothing serious.

Ha! My Charlie went from being 'absolutely-not-a-lap-chicken' to me having to push her off me if ever I tried to eat anything whilst out in the garden with them!
Hummus is like a thing with mine too. They would knock me down, if they could, to get at it.

We can eat nothing outside without Hattie staring at us waiting patiently for her part. Much like the dog used to do. Others will eventually get bored and leave but not Hattie. Not until she gets something.

Honestly, it was like the seagulls in "Finding Nemo"

They all came running towards me with expectant faces.
I could practically hear them shouting "Moine? Moine? Moine?"
