I'm afraid I'm going to add to the tales of woe. Fat Bird has a problem with one of her eyes.
It's doing that bubbly corner when something is in it or it's received an injury. It doesn't look good.
I think the vet is open on Monday and if so that's where she'll be going.
Two strange things. I had a look at her eye with a magnifying glass and saw what could only be some kind of mite on the lower eyelid. I got the mite, and naturally gave Fat Bird a full on check for any more. No other mites or even signs of mites present.
But, when checking her nostrils and her ears on the side of the bad eye, I found what I can oly describe as a tiny earwig type creature. Got that as well.
I've given her eye a wash with PH neutral water and put some eye drops in. Apart from the obvious eye problem she seems fine. Ate well at supper time and headed off to the coop seemingly untroubled. Of course I didn't let her walk up and gave her a carry.
She was roosting with the others when I looked in a while ago. I'll give her eye another wash in the morning.
One really annoying thing I've discovered is I had a pair of wooden round nose tweezers with were ideal for removing bits from ears, eyes and mouths. I can't find them anywhere.
