Just a quick update from the Chicken Palace. I had a bit of a scare and was admitted to hospital as an emergency in the middle of the night I think it was Wednesday. They just released me, fortunately without needing surgery. But I have to ease back to solid food slowly.
Anyway, the chicks seem to have become huge with just a couple of days away from them!
But they are still not quite brave enough to come out of their brooder area but are beginning to be curious.
It is very hot here and I managed to fit hardware cloth shutters to the Palace Windows so the Princesses can enjoy a bit of a breeze at night.
According to the hospital I am supposed to rest over the next few days. My attempts to nap on the sofa were a bit stymied by Nightshade.
That’s it from me. Time I had another nap. View attachment 2215719View attachment 2215720View attachment 2215721View attachment 2215722
These are great photos, and and I especially love the one peaking out the little window (door?) How are you feeling?

How exciting - I think they are very pretty! I wish they thought better of me. I tried offering them a strawberry but that didn't get me anywhere.
I will persevere - I did manage to get Minnie to perch on my hand for about 5 mins today. Couldn't get a picture because I didn't dare move in case I scared her.
I have a Minnie, too! Same spelling. It took me weeks to name her. She was going to be Minnie, Tiny, Itty Bitty or just Bitty, but Minnie stuck. :)

So I decided to try the barium sulfate and clavamox for Roxy. She’s happy to be home. No free ranging, since we don’t know what’s upsetting her intestines. Fed her some cooked beef liver (purchased especially for her), which she loved!

I'm glad she's still with you. Such a pretty little hen! 🥰

Sorry to learn you've been unwell RC. I hope it's a short road to recovery.

That's great. Slow progress is good. Trust is not earned overnight. Sydney still does completely trust me around her babies. Despite me rescuing them several times now. Keep at it. You will be rewarded.
