Hi Bob. Roxy is actually doing relatively well. It was easy to get the clavamox in her. She ate a bit if baby bird food with the barium sulfate and ate regular feed. I’ll try again later with the barium sulfate. She didn’t touch the liver snack. She did do one gassy poop while she was with me... the poop was not at all black! The urates were pretty yellow, however. I think her coloring might be slightly better and she's talking. Fingers crossed. I’m amazed at the possibility that the barium sulfate might be helping. It’s meant to be a contrast agent and I can’t find an article showing it prescribed to coat and sooth the GI tract lining. If it’s going to help, though, I’m happy. She does seem to be more comfortable.
Dorothy was spry when I let them out this morning but is not so great now. She’s going to get some baby bird food with calcium in it.
Sounds like things have improved a little for both of them. That's good. How hot is it? Does Dorothy tolerate heat well?

I have a whole bunch of funny photos and a few stories from my coop from over the last week or so. I haven't been sharing them as it feels insensitive to do so, especially as there has been so much illness and worry going on here. Plus I didn't want to detract from Sydney's hatch theme. I'll share at some point though.
Oh, please share!

All my hens seem agitated today, pecking at one another, and I don't like it! I do not let them free range, until I return from church. They are usually fine with it, :barniebut not today???
It happens. Sometimes they are just irritable like us.

Actually cool here so far today, but warming up. Dorothy actually does not do great in heat, despite being mostly Leghorn. I usually let them out in the yard most of the weekend, but they don’t want Roxy free ranging right now. I think it would stress her out to see her flock out without her, so they all suffer. It’s ok; I’ll only do it a couple days and will let them out before bed when I know they won’t venture too far. Dorothy is the one who jumps the stupid little poultry fence every time I let them out. I was thinking of doing cattle panels and tree stakes for an inexpensive fence sometime this summer. I have ten tomato plants I’ll need to keep the deer off once they griw bigger.
