Phyllis gets Down and Dirty

There was something that happened the other day which led me to decide to keep the girls contained in the run complex for a while. I don't have time to detail it now but it looked too me sitting in the big run with them the other day. This really doesn't happen a lot unless there is snow which prevents me from free ranging them. So it was an odd situation for the ladies and everyone was adapting.

Phyllis decided to take advantage of my presence and dust bathe right next to my chair. I quickly figured out when when first Aurora and then Lilly came over to root her out of her hole. Well rooster Bob would permit no such thing and I shooshed them away.

Here is Phyllis enjoying her peaceful bath.

Sometimes I think Phyllis forgets how small she is. Watch her shake off the dust and flip herself around doing it. 😆 this harpies all the time when she shakes! 🤣

Bob, I mentioned you and Mr. Bob Rooster in a FB post

Aww, so cute! I love hearing about other people's chickens!
Well you have come to the right place. So nice of you to join us.

You will hear not just about mine but everyone else's. Please tell us about your flock. Pictures are especially appreciated.

This thread seems intimidating because of its sheer size. The best advice I have is to hang out with us here in the now and read back when you have time to catch up on all the fun and sad stories from the past.

Edwina is outside free ranging with the rest of the flock and she did this weird run-waddle across the grass. I was concerned that she had a problem....until I realized.

The grass needs mowing. 🙄

Bonus gratuitous Tsuki Pictures for ByBob.

Tsuki seems to be growing her spurs too. What is this new fad among hens?

It's very interesting. Not only does there seem to be a sliding scale in gender attributes there also seems to be a similar scale for physical attributes.

Thanks! No before picture, sadly. However, DH offered up his circular saw and that thing kicks serious booty! It will help with breaking down the logs. Today my right forearm is super sore from yesterday’s yard work (overdid it) and left shoulder is sore from tetanus shot. As much as I want this done, I may take it easy today.
Chain saw or bow saw here. I do most with a bow saw once a tree is felled. Not overly keen on chain saws these days.:old

As a thank you offering for all the research you and @BY Bob have been doing into Legbars, I offer up some pictures of the young ladies.
Minnie looking quite grown-up with her red comb and blue ear tufts, Dotty looking a tad deranged and trying to put her fluffy butt in order. And both of them settling down to watch for bugs. Dotty has always been bigger and more developed but Minnie is definitely ahead in terms of comb and wattle development. I looked up pictures of Cream Legbars and they both have the pink chest that suggests they are both pullets in spite of Minnie’s precociousness.

Should have saved that fluffy butt for Friday.
