Hello. Happy Friday to some (most?) of you. Friday is in ~4.5 hours for me.

I caught a (single) rat in the garden last night. It’s a start!

The babies *almost* went to bed on their own tonight. I had to speak sweetly to them through the hardware cloth window for them to settle down once I closed their door.

As far the big girls, I think everyone except the 1.5 year olds and Lucky are molting!

Not much else to report. Heat is back and smoke is back. My eye is healing slowly , but nicely.

Sorry for being boring tonight!

Sometimes boring is good. There is plenty of exciting around these parts.

Why are their heads under their butts?

There must be something very interesting behind them.

Notice how Daisy, the greatest hen ever, did not look. Somebody was used to photos while on the roost.

I have been having problems getting a Fluffy Butt Picture today.

Since I have been providing cicadas, the girls keep running towards me.

This was the best I could do. can you tell who it is?

A chicken making itself whiter while rolling in the dirt. Does anything seem more nonsensical? What is this, through the looking glass? She is going to need to bleach that out!

Lilly is in the spotlight today. She has started her slow molt but her butt is still Fluffy!

And while it is not a full on shot, I was able to get a somewhat fluffy Hattie for your added pleasure.

Me, too, Bob. I’d love a lavender hen someday. I secretly obsess about them a bit, kind of like you with white hens. But my last two batches of chicks I got because of broody hens and, well, when timing is of the essence, you just get what’s available.
