Now yer talking. Chickens yay!Well, since we have gone way off topic here, talking about our cats, and I just had to share my two princes, and could clearly talk about cats all day long, because clearly they are the highest form of life on this planet, at least if you were to ask any cat who has lived with me, I thought I'd share photos of chickens. How about a rooster shoot?

Mad Hatter, when he was still young and not quite so ornery.

Surly, doting on Louie Louie, back when he was still called Lucy 2.I blame this bonding experience for his skittish nature. When she got broody again, she booted him out into the milieu, and no one wanted him around. Poor guy. Raising up some girls for him now.
I already shared a recent photo of him.
Now I think Marquis is a fine looking rooster. Although the differences are slight, he's better looking than Maximus imo.I thought that's what they were! I have a Sapphire Olive egger...she is a FBCM crossed with a Creme Legbar...that is my best guess anyway, she was a surprise when I bought what I thought were 4 FBCM! I'm hoping to add a couple of the Legbars to my flock next year and breed them with my FBCM rooster/s.
Edit to add: If your girls lay a green egg instead of blue then they are probably a Marans/Creme Legbar cross!
This is my sweet MadeleineYou can't see her crest as well here, but she has one!

I clearly have a lot to learn - they both look stunning to me!Now I think Marquis is a fine looking rooster. Although the differences are slight, he's better looking than Maximus imo.
I love different qualities of each...for instance, I love Maximus's tail feathers...just a little wild & longer, but I think Marquis's color is more outstanding! I would love to combine the two! I need to learn more about confirmation! Now I think Marquis is a fine looking rooster. Although the differences are slight, he's better looking than Maximus imo.
If that is what you want, then yes.Is this a cat?

He's stunning...the colors, body shape & love those tail feathers! She's beautiful too!Punch. Vain, indolent and generally indifferent. But, he's a fine looking chap and the tribes boss.
That's Tack on the step above. She been moulting much to my surprise. She isn't quite a year old yet.

Serious question on this. Sometimes on Picture of the Week you see chickens - usually roosters I think - who seem to be tethered by their leg. It looks like they have a leash fitted to their ankle that presumably stops them running away. Do people really do that? That seems unkind. Is it a show thing? I was shocked the first time I saw it but then I saw it many more times so I wondered if I just didn't understand enough. Maybe it is just for the photo shoot?Seriously? You think I'd do that?Ok, so it's crossed my mind once or twice...
