Those look amazing! Ok, and run under the deck??? BRILLIANT!It gets so windy and the snow is so deep here in the winter that I got up this morning and made some seasonal walls for the pen this year. Hope it works!

He stopped by just long enough to sample Morgan's pumpkin!!
Red Tail Hawks? Yikes. They are HUGE. We have Coopers, Sharp Shinned and Red Shouldered. Red Tails do live here, but I’ve only seen them over my yard a couple times. I have heard their distinct call several times. Our biggest raptors are Golden Eagles, Bald Eagles and Great Horned Owls, though sitings from my yard are rare. That is true. Speed is important when dodging hawks and a lot of other predators.
I wonder about our big red tail hawks. I still think they prefer smaller targets. Not that they wouldn't kill a chicken, they have. I just think the cover that my yard provides along the availability of other smaller food sources has worked to my benefit most of the time. I do really worry about Phyllis though. She is fully reliant on the rest of the flock for safety.
Lucky guy!Ned loves living on the wild side!!

That little gray speck to the left of the green fence post is Ned. He's heading off to spend the afternoon in the woods.
I just love this video! We had breakfast for dinner tonight and I used the 2 extra jumbo eggs I had. Anna recorded it.
Oh! Salmon Faverolles have fluffy feet? I missed that detail (or forgot), even though I had a chick for a couple weeks! She most certainly does; she’s just missing the fluffy feet.![]()
Yes, this! But mine also do 3’s.That will be a nice sized flock. I would recommend an even number as they like to pair up.
Shoot, I forget who we think his mama is, but he’s definitely at least half Barred Rock!Quiz Time: What kind of chicken is Ned?
Agree. I just wonder if Rusty was an anomoly or closer to standard (not that hatchery stock meet any kind of standard.)Neither do I but I do know that people do confuse them quite a bit.
