My husband is a retired Journeymen electrician...vocational education is definitely the way to go...IMO! :)
Is that the same as an apprenticeship?

That must be so frustrating!

Yes it is. If I can keep them out until it sprouts though it comes along really well. The rats aren't interested in grass! :D

University is way more affordable in Australia and it has a strong vocational focus except for the more traditional degrees, like the one Ribh took.

Germany and Denmark are even more affordable. You don't even have to be German to get a "free" PhD, but you have to be really good to get through the door. Denmark provides "free" education from kindergarten to doctorate but to take it that far, again you have to be an outstanding scholar.

I got my PhD in the UK and even with UK citizenship it still cost about 36k in Australian money. If I'd got it from an Australian uni, it would've been free.

Yes that's exactly what it is...hands on training for a real life job. Sadly a college education is not what it was 20-30 years ago! Those fluff classes they force people take should be optional not a requirement...it's good for people to broaden their knowledge base...but it has gotten way out of hand!

What if you covered it with wire mesh or metal screen...if you haven't already tried that. It will allow the light in and keep the rats out!

Someone pays for it...it's not truly free...would be awesome if it was! I think ribh's degree sounds amazing & she has gained so much knowledge from it, it seems that it has served her well!
What do you have a PhD in...if you don't mind me asking! 💞

That's precisely why i said "free." it's free to the students, not to the state.

They could. They are designed to kill rats as well. Now how does their personality match with that i can't say but they have the equipment.
Well Nightshade is an avid hunter but he has had tooth issues and really only has one fang left. His sister is probably the best bet. She would take on anyone. My little runt is fierce but not much bigger than a big rat - she is only 5lb - so I hope she would stay away. I may deploy them once I have sealed up the gaps.

You should build some of these pipe feeders RC...zero waste and I haven't seen any mice in them, but I'm not out there at night, but I never see any droppings which would be there if they were getting into them! Also super easy to build! I have 5 of these, one inside the enclosed pen under inside covered area! They hold more than 50lbs of feed!View attachment 2410747

I might do that to keep food nice and dry. But the issue isn’t the feeder it is the Princesses.
I didn’t pay enough attention to table manners when I brought them up so they scatter food everywhere. The rodents don’t go near the feeders because there is so much to eat along the way!

When my daughter studied abroad in the Netherlands she hung out with a lot of Aussies and said your system of higher education was much better than ours. What it cost for her to go to law school was astronomical.
