You and me both. I realize I haven't managed to fit my car in the garage for over a year. I blame the chickens because the garage is sort of 'workshop central' for building the Chicken Palace, but that is a bit unfair as somehow stuff just builds up. I am not even trying to tidy it up - just pile it up high enough so I can make space for the car. Looks like it will start to get serious here at about lunchtime tomorrow. I wish I could take tomorrow off work but I can't so it may be a late cold night for me tonight trying to get it all out of the way.
The cars are swapped. I need to get gas for the snowblower still. I tried at lunch time but it was beyond a madhouse at the Sheetz. My wife is going to try the grocers after work but she is nuts. People are crazy right now. You can tell it has been years here since a big snow. It's embarrassing. 😔

Well, my rescues are in a bit better condition than they appeared last night, but still covered in filth, half starved, and super flighty. As in absolutely wild, running from me, which made moving the tractor more interesting than usual. I was really hoping the smell was mostly coming from the dog crates... it wasn’t. I want to avoid washing the birds or getting them too soaked, so I have just moved them to better grass. I had them in the area right by the gate for ease of removal and placement into the pen last night, but that spot has been hit fairly hard by my own chickens. It’s what I consider ‘too filthy’, but a paradise compared to what these girls have been living in. Luckily we have fairly warm wet weather right now. I’m not too worried about them ground roosting in the wet grass just yet. And there goes my “no one in the meat tractors for winter” plans...
I would love a photo of these poor disgusting ladies. That way I can get more riled up. 😁

Wait, you have two alfa cars? Did I miss something here?
There is nothing like an opening to talk about my cars! This is going to cost some chicken tax. 😉

I own two Alfa Romeos. A 1985 Spider Veloce (come say hello to the nice people Juliet :frow)

And a 2018 Giulia Quadrifoglio that took 2nd place at the 2019 AROC National Convention. (Say hi Giana. :frow)

That was my idea too - a slow build to ten. But how slow?! And why ten? :idunno

Shad is right everything is nice and settled. On the other hand Maggie is clearly on borrowed time.

something for me to ponder over the holiday break.
However it turns out, the decision will be the right one with all that thought behind it.

Poor things, you are doing them a favor they will grow into loving. When they are that dirty though, will they get chilled by getting soaked in a rain? If they haven't been grooming, do the feathers with poo sludge have no water-repellent oil on them?

The ones I'm trying to rehome had a great start with the caretaker I think, and when he left, it's the returned homeowner now who "hates chickens" and is doing virtually nothing consistent for them. He has a poor cat who is valso neglected, needs vet care and more - he was trying to eat the chicken feed and mealworms I had with me.
You're doing the right thing, getting them out of there.
