Define Huge??? We have been hit with winter storm #2 of the season and have had dinner cancelled thanks to a tree down across our road in “the big trees” section of the farm. Hopefully I will have some pictures for y’all of it in the next couple days. According to DH it’s as wide as he is tall. Power was only out for 4 hours, so that’s a new record for the last 3 years that we have been here. Now, to find someone who has a 48” bar on his saw and knows how to deal with something that size safely... (my little arms and 20” saw isn’t even going to think about it!).I have a huge walnut tree that overhangs part of the run. I should probably have one heavy branch cut back and your ice tree reminded me. Its shade makes it the coolest spot in the yard, so I wouldn’t go too far on cutting. I do the tree work around here, but this would need a pro (along with Pouson Osk Forest in the oak trees behind the garage).
Kris, I also keep meaning to ask... have you heard of Crowd Cow? It’s a meat shipped to you from humane sources.
I love this photo of chicken bliss.
Haha! I did not mean to do the double quote here, but that’s ok!
Well, I don’t have any good pics of it, but here’s a hint. This is from 2017 and it’s the tree sort of engulfing the coop (which is probably about 12-13 feet tall). The side of the run in the sun is 16 feet long. I’d say the tree is at least 3x taller than the coop building.Define Huge??? Short story... Tree Maintenance is extremely important! Call in some pro’s to asses itWe aren’t allowed to Fall in that section thanks to an agreement with DH’s grandmother, and it’s an awesome section until something like this happens.
Yes and yes!I am not sure I followed it all in detail but my main take-away is that she is definitely becoming one of the flock!
I am so glad you rescued her.

Don't know what to say Kris.
I understand the need for regulation of antibiotics but in the country down the road from you they are pumping them into cattle like there is no tomorrow.
To be quite fair, and as you might have missed my earlier post on it, we honestly aren’t that much better about antibiotics in our food stream here either. You need to buy Organic or RWA (raised with Antibiotics) certified meats to avoid it, but we do have stringent regulations on withholding periods after those medications are administered before processing. And we don’t allow for hormone use Except in Beef Cattle. We are quite the whipping boys aren't we.![]()
That is why I think she should show up with her Cockatoo and insist on being seen. I agree, I don't see how ethically a vet can deny life-saving medication to a pet animal sitting in their clinic.
