Crossing the Road
I've been dismayed in recent days. But I won't say more because we should stay off that topic if possible.
Agreed!

Let's stick to chickens (and goats). They are altogether more appealing.Agreed!
I've had a few hatch with this colouring. It's the Marans genes that seem to do it.I really love her coloring!
I clicked on it to open in a new tab and then zoomed in. It looks like her wattles are flapping and swinging up to hit her face a little! Her eye is almost closed. Was she shaking her head, like just before scratching with a foot? I picture her doing it like a wet dog would, twisting the head, one side of the face up and then the other side up. It could get the wattles really going!I cannot figure out what has happened to Lilly's face in the middle one.![]()
Thank you!I don’t have any experience with cockerels. I see the consensus says they’re all female. They’re also all gorgeous!![]()
Thank you so much!!!!I likely all pullets. The white one gives me a little pause. I posted on your thread that I would look at posture. They are likely all pullets as I did not see any rooster posture in any of the pictures.
OK I haven't read ahead, I am behind a lot in the thread, but found this when I googled the phrase veterinary medical ethics. Bolding is mine. From the American Veterinary Medical Association:Yes they do have a oath...
Veterinarian's Oath
Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge.
I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics.
I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.
Borrowed direction from the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association)
Sadly the dollar bill still seems to out weight the rest...
Duct tape on the whole edge (both sides) where there isn't a factory grommet, and then punched or sliced holes in there for reuseable zip ties (attaching to welded wire run, no wood there). You could use wood slats that would look better. I did it this way because I doubt that a shower curtain will last much beyond one year much less one season in UV light, at least that's what I've heard from others. We'll see. It's cheap enough to get a new one each year. My chickens won't be year-round in the run though (tractor situation), only late Fall/Winter/early Spring. For the year-round part I have a clear durable and moveable tarp which cost $Ok so one of the things that got me excited was the idea of using shower curtains to block the wind and rain Really should have thought of it myself their use comes up in my iguana forums all the time but I never made the connection. My question though is did you use washers or something or just a bit of tension with screws through the grommets or?
