Okeedokee here's the eggs minus the first one we ate, laid on the 5th, which I think was Queenie's. However! Added in is an egg which definitely Queenie laid this morning the 8th. She started calling and went into the coop nest box while I was in the run putting new water out, feed, etc, within a few minutes of leaving it at 7:25am when I let them out! She didn't stay very long, I kept an eye on the coop after going back in and saw her leave about 7:50am. I went and checked and got it. It was still warm! That was very nice, to feel that warmth! She also had gathered together both fake eggs into a clutch, I had put one on the other end of the nest box to indicate another spot to lay. She pushed it back almost two feet.
The one on the 7th might be Hazel's. The 6th is Queenie's I think and I know today's is Queenie's.

I completely agree the the 6th and 8th are Queenie's. They look just like my buff's eggs. Even the purplish bloom on them.

The egg laid on the 7th is definitely a different hen.

Thinking about a new roomate, Shad? Roosters are definitely less trouble than my newest addition!

And we have firmly established that sheep are not the ideal pastoral lovelies they are made out to be!
More of an addition to medical care. If I've got one in for observation then I was wondering if a roost might be better than the nest box or pet carrier.

Happy Friday everyone. I've been eyeballing one of my pullets for a week now. Snickers hatched the same day as Butter this spring. Butter started laying around the middle of October so I assumed she wouldn't be too far behind. Yeah, wrong, but in the past 2 weeks her face finally started coloring up and she's been very interested in the nesting spots. Several times when I've went to collect Butters egg I've found Snickers sitting on it. Well today she's all grown up. Mom brought in a egg that she assumed was butters but was like Butter was sitting beside it refusing to get up. I look the egg over and nope, not a Butter egg. Shape is slightly different and a shade darker then Butters and no spots. Butters always has a few purply spots. Told mom that it had to be Snickers, and my suspicions were confirmed a few minutes ago when Butter laid her own egg. If she had laid it yesterday just for the heck of it i'd have popped it in the incubator but not willing to try almost 2 days into the start of incubation.
Anyway now on to pictures.
I took this yesterday evening of Snickers. She is a lovely girl who sometimes gets overlooked as she's more standoffish then the rest of my mob. She stands back and doesn't hound me for treats, so I have to be extra careful to make sure she gets her fair share. And she is definitely a Look but don't Touch hen.

And now her first egg.
