Yes I can grab them off the roost and entice with treats. Mostly I can just pick them up. The scenario that worries me is when they rush the door and head off across the meadow. Mean things lurk in the meadow. I can stay with them as guardian (provided they stay together) but there is no herding to be done in the meadow. It used to be that I could approach each one in turn and as they squatted I could grab them and carry them back to the Palace. Don't think that will work any more. :(
I can see that being an issue. Your meadow is a dangerous place.

You know there are no eggs there, right?

This was the coop last night. It's like Hattie and Sydney were chatting.

Sydney looks so sad.

I just picture Hattie saying, "It's ok, I'll lay you another one tomorrow. I know Aurora said she would too. That will give you 2, that's enough, right?"

Sydney: "He'll just take them again. I don't understand why I can't hatch more. The others are gone and there is lots of room here." Sniff Sniff
Awww, look at them 🥰
So sweet with the added conversation ☺️

Hahaha, the story you were referring to when answering me the other day about the honking stage 😂😂 love it!
Oh I am glad you found that - I realize re-reading it that I may have got Dottie and Minnie the wrong way around when I answered your question. In all honesty they both honked like geese, crowed like roosters and brayed like donkeys for quite a while!

I think the meadow is a treat itself. 😆 It might be hard to top it.
Yes - and if I am not there they will become treats for the foxes who hang out in the meadow. For now I am just being super careful, but I think I might need to more actively train the Princesses to come when called or something like that. I am reasonably confident Maggie will always come for an ear of fresh corn. Not sure about the others.
