I’m so, so sad to read thisToday is not a good day. When I went to the coop this morning Stanley was dead. I have no idea what happened. He was completely fine yesterday. It's quite a shock.

Ned has some big feathers to fill...
What COVID is demonstrating is the real danger the internet poses. Anyone can pose as an expert on the internet. Any rumor false or true can be spread in a second.
You marry this kind of accessibility to information with the desperation brought on by fear and exacerbated by distrust of the government and scientists associated with the government, you wind up with people drinking bleach and taking goat dewormer.
Then add in a lack of basic knowledge of biology as it is not well taught in schools. A dewormer effects multi-cellular organisms. A virus is smaller than a cell. The dewormer works in the intestinal tract. The virus infects the respiratory system and the blood. There is no mechanism for one to even reach the other let alone effect it. This is not high level science yet it is escaping people.
Conspiracy theories are one thing but science is science. This magnificent world wide web can be used for so much good, bringing chicken lovers together for an example, but it also allows nonsense to persist and spread as if it is real science. Just sad. Education is the key to ending things like this but we no longer train people how to think critically and examine facts for themselves, if we ever did.

I know nothing about incubation but I'm hoping really hard that everything will turn out OK.Ugh I'm a idiot and I hope I didn't screw up to bad. With the fiasco of holding crybaby *Toothy Jr* for people last week and non showing up, the sick chick and nest laying shenanigans I completely forgot that the 6th was lockdown day for the other round of eggs in the incubator. I only remembered this morning when with my first cup of coffee glance at the date on my computer. The 8th, what...can't be those eggs should start hatching the 9th. ran to my paper with dates written down and have a panic attack. I've removed the turner, upped humidity and now just pray I guess.
She's less than 2 isn't she MJ? I believe that FatBird is pushing 12. May you have another decade!Such a beauty. I'm going to be a mess when she has go.
I hope we still have another 5+ years.
Hattie’s size is just gloriousLast Night's Roosting
The following is a break down of last night's roosting. I have 50 video clips documenting the process so I will summarize what occurred as the final outcome is interesting.

- At 4:50 Phyllis enters the coop and ascends to the high roost
- 2 minutes later, Lilly enters and removes Phyllis from the high roost. Phyllis settles into Aurora's old spot on the main roost by the door.
- A short while later, Sydney enters, ascends to the main roost, patrols the length of it and Phyllis hops down as she approaches.
- Sydney settles into Aurora's old spot
- Phyllis goes to Daisy’s, ghe, spot on the far end of the roost
- Sansa enters the coop, gets onto the main roost, and heads to Phyllis. She pecks at Phyllis.
- Hattie enters coop and goes to eat.
- Sansa finally convinces Phyllis to jump down.
- Hattie gets a few shots in on Phyllis as she scoots away.
- Phyllis remounts the roost in the same spot next to Sansa and gets some abuse for the choice.
- Hattie mounts the roost in the middle and sidled down to Sansa.
- Aurora enters the coop and immediately pecks Sydney's feet
- Sydney immediately hops onto the high roost with Lilly. Lilly expresses her displeasure but only 3 pecks and Sydney stays up
- Aurora has a snack and then goes to her traditional place on the main roost by the door.
- At 4:59, 9 minutes after it started, Aurora ascends to the high roost and we are done. We are left with this combo on the main roost for the first time that I can remember.
