I sat out with them tonight for a half hour before they went to bed, needed the serenity. They delivered, just loved spending some quality time with them. Been harder to do since school started again after Xmas

They are a dual purpose bird like my Hattie. A fully grown hen should be around 7lbs. I think she will appear quite large next to your layers. But she should have that calm Hattie attitude.

She’s beautiful and fluffy, I wish she’d willingly let me pat her!
I think she will lay well before Belle too, her comb and wattles are a smidge bigger than Belle’s. Belle has grown a lot too, but I think she’s slower at doing so. I look at @BY Bob’s Hattie and think if Belle is in fact a jubilee orp, I’ve got 2 big ol girls on my hands!

Sussex are known to be easy to handle if not cuddly. Perhaps with some work you can earn her trust so you can pat her. I can pat Hattie now and I could not at first.

Full Production

I picked up 6 eggs on Saturday. I had not gotten them on Friday so I was expecting more than usual but 6 was surprising and the one on the left was super surprising.

Phyllis squatted for me yesterday. Such a sweetie. Having caught Hattie on the nest Saturday, this means everyone besides Lilly is now laying. That is full production for Fluffy Butt Acres.

I have not. She is not herself. I am concerned. I have video from yesterday that I will put up in a bit. She has become stand-off-ish and less aggressive with others. She is definitely off and it may not be because of me.

I'm concerned.
