Just dropping in to say hello.

I've had a very busy couple of days, I've sterlised my girls coup and their run. Whoever said this was easy was having a joke but they are so worthwhile. They're not laying very many eggs but as @FransGran has said that's a very good thing because they are healthy.

It's good coming in and catching up with you all, those fox pictures are pretty scary. Thank goodness you have that lovely palace. I'm sorry for your loss and sorry for not noting your name.

Coop cleaning and sanitizing is a real bear! But so satisfying after it’s finished!

She was a beauty! I actually love the idea of a less than stellar layer. I think that would (might?) make them less prone to laying issues.

I have to agree. My girl Blanche lays an egg every.single.day.
And it’s a big egg, solidly built shell.
Makes me start to be afraid for her though.
For me, getting chickens was like having children. It’s given me more to worry about.

Finally opened it. It still looks together, if that means anything, but there are a couple places where there's a clear bit of green fluid coming out.View attachment 2550329

Don't ask. I don't know. She hasn't laid an egg for almost a year. She still chucks the youngsters out and has a bit of a sit.

Bob, I share that sane fear.

My philosophy is minimum interference in their lives, society, etc. So I am always leaning towards the conservative side. In most cases I need to see something specific or I will give them a day or two to work out of whatever may be bothering them. I figure we all have bad days. Of course that whole time I am secretly panicking inside.

This case was much harder because it really seemed to be tied to me somehow. Thankfully Phyllis was right and spring arrived instead of her having 2 more weeks of confinement I just got to watch her run across the yard flapping to catch up with everyone else.

She must be feeling pretty proud of herself!!!

She is full of herself right now. And their is nothing Aurora or Sansa can do to make her feel less. She is actually quite popular in the tribe right now.

Blanche has no choice, she is a leghorn. Hopefully you can guide her through to the end of her laying days. I have heard stories of 10 year old leghorns. It is not impossible.
