How's the chick doing @Ribh ?

Sadly she didn't make it overnight, Shad. Ceres will be going to the Vet on her own. She's doing much better but I'm not happy about her @ all. I suspect a number of different things went wrong all @ once. I've only got 2 of them.

She's still with us. No better but no worse. She's going to see Gloria the vet tomorrow at 4.30 pm.

That is really good news! I read ahead. I hope whatever ails her isn't serious & is easily treated.

Adorable mugs. Have no clue on barred rocks, but I hope the cockerel fairy didn't visit you too as he seemed to do me. But if she did, at least your like me a love the boys.

I took several to get one with her hat sticking out. Otherwise she was impossible to find.

Is she is the back against the wall on the left? I'm not sure I see it!

I do and so do some others. It comes from beekeeping really. You use a blow torch on the empty hives and cleaned frames. Mainly it's to kill wax moth and eggs here but the blue part of the flame kills everything, including eggs so it's do it once in a while.
For me the advantage is no chemicals and the chickens can go straight back in.
It takes a bit of courage and some practice. Not all coops are suitable for it. If you have a look at my coop page you can see why it might work well for me.

I think I remembered it from a comment you made there about the building of your coops! Sounds like a really good idea actually. Thank you.

Late advice.
Get Amprolium, Permethrin, Chlorhexedine, a vitamin and mineral booster.
I think I would also look for another beeder Ribh. Losing the Vorwerks so quickly which are noted for being reasonably hardy, plus the chick problems you've had makes me think that your breeder doesn't know what he/she is doing.
My view with chicks is get them outside as quickly as possible. Outside is where they are going to live and being outside early helps them build up some tolerance to the local pathogens.
It was a problem here when I arrived. They kept the chicks inside until they were fully feathered. When they let them out a lot died.
I think while your run and coops are great that you have too many chickens for the available space. Just an observation. The 10 square metres rule one often reads is imo about half of what the minimum should be.
Ideally, all prospective chicken keepers should equip themselves with the basic medications before they get chickens. I realise this rarely happens but when a chicken falls ill, you need the stuff there and then, not when amazon or whatever manage to deliver it.

I thought I knew barred rocks, but I never had any cockerels. I am hoping that these are all pullets but...

Loss of a pet, is devastating to me. Very sorry @Ribh
