I think what helps children to take an interest in reading and writing is if there are books in the house rather than a 24/7 TV. Dated now and it's probably a games console/computer replacing the TV.
Yep always owned my own personal library & my kids quite literally wouldn't let me in a bookstore until the groceries were bought! :lau

I did an alfalfa pellet mash for my chooks in the winter. I soaked the pellets, chicken feed, and cracked corn. They were unsure at first, but soon were eating it with gusto.

Warm to hot warm softens the pellets the best. I also found they much preferred it mixed in with other feed rather then on it's own.
Thank you so much for letting me know this:)
I will be calling a lady that runs the local pet shop tomorrow, to see if she will order the pellets in for me. I've been fermenting the mash and layers pellets together and the cracked mixed corn in a separate jar.

I've just made a hearty soup for myself with brown lentils squash leaks and sweet potatoes the base is onions ginger chilli and black pepper with Himalayan salt , cooked in coconut oil. Its thickened up beautifully and this will be a good meal for a few days.
Then pulled a good bit of the squash off for the girls tomorrow and of course the cat and dog will have some, my thick concoction will also be in my cute old boys his dinner tomorrow as well. He will love it :drool

She's lovely but knows that her skills and knowledge with chickens is limited. She also knows that I care about the chickens.
She also seems to like having to deal with them. All she usually gets is cats and dogs and she's been a vet for a long time.
It is always enjoyable to take knowledge and experience and apply it to a new problem. I love when those opportunities arrive. I'm sure she does as well.

I didn't know you were Irish Bob.
You are correct, I am not. But maybe Hattie is? 🤣

Mrs BY Bob is 1/2 Irish 1/2 Italian. That was a loud household she grew up in. She certainly got the adult beverage gene from both sides. Very little is out of bounds! 🤣

You are very right. Also an introduction to the adventures to be found in a book is also important. I firmly believe that if you read stories to them before they can read at that level they will want to learn so they can read the stories themselves. Otherwise how will they know what is even to be found in a book?
