The chicks are very cute but I feel sorry for them, without their mamas.

I felt the same way! Thought maybe it was just me, I felt very sad! I guess that's the reaction TSC wants. I hope they all find a good home.

Not hurt from falls..tough guy..... but his poor legs hurt. Probably his prostate cancer, if not that, then his Alzheimer's is causing the pain. Going for x-rays on Tues. We're good. We have our youngest son and wife..and little guy, moved in to help..me..us. Soo.. thankful they are here! Chicken tax from the past! A good hatch. View attachment 2576382

Well tonight is the night. If the temps stay where they should the boys are spending their first night outside. They are over 5 weeks old, been off the heat lamp for a week and a half and spending the majority of their days outside. The dog house is cozy, bedded with sawdust plus a "nest" of hay yet I feel guilty for kicking them out. It is time though, no matter how many times I clean their cage it is STINKY again within a hour. More importantly going to miss them. Will be the first time in 7 weeks that I will not hear the sound of chicks peeping in my room. I'm leaving the brooder set up just incase the temp does drop unexpectedly.

PDZ in the brooder helps for in between picking up poops, do you use that?

I think I need a new weather app. It was certainly well below freezing but not a cloud in the sky at 8am and certainly not snowing.

Yep, We ,many years ago, lived in Kerby, Cave Junction and then Redmond. Daughter #2 lives in Grants Pass and daughter #3 in Bend. My 2 favorite places are Union Creek. Boy did we do quite a bit of camping there when the kids were younger. View attachment 2580317

We will be visiting Bend in September! I spent a lot of time in Oregon growing up, even lived there a few times.
