Do you have a name yet. She is super cute! This is one of the ones I plan to take home. Likes to fall asleep in my hand. I'm hoping the big beak doesn't mean roo.View attachment 2590675View attachment 2590676
I don't watch either, Michelle. I know what goes on & that's all I need to know to watch my practices.I fully admit, @Shadrach, I’ve suspected as much of hatcheries and haven’t watched because of guilt. Cowardly, I know. I’m a hypocrite and not proud of it.
I'm @ 24.I'm at 25 chickens total including the new babies Mama has.❤
The problem is, where does a person go to get the chickens they want. I admit, I bought mine from TSC, and they are healthy and really pretty chickens. Some of the locals sell chicks on Craig’s List and from the pictures alone their whole operation seems sketchy.I fully admit, @Shadrach, I’ve suspected as much of hatcheries and haven’t watched because of guilt. What is her name?Today, she's an honor worthy full hen now. She laid her egg for me just this morning. She must have been raised in a cage, because she doesn't know how to perch. (But, I can teach her how to do that too) Egg was small, but she's still young. There is plenty of time for her to learn. (Does remind me of my late hen Sunshine) Just as friendly. RIP Sunshine.![]()
There's one missing...
Out here I use breeders. Our produce stores rarely carry chicks ~ thank heavens! I would contact somewhere like your 4-H club or poultry breeders association/ club & ask for reputable breeders. They have to be there because people are still breeding show birds to a certain standard & the sub standard ones usually go up for sale but are of a pretty good quality. The problem is, where does a person go to get the chickens they want.
